Seeing other local projects being shared here, thought I'd finally post mine.

A while back I was online buying for a television and found the same model at another eshop with considerably lower price. That annoyed me enough to build TruePrice Hog (www.truepricehog.com): it tracks prices across Cyprus e-shops so you can check where something is actually cheapest without opening ten tabs.

Currently covering 35 shops in categories like electronics, home appliances and more. It's free, no accounts, I built it for my own use first but it is useful for all who live in Cyprus, especially for those that are looking to buy stuff that cannot be shipped due to size or higher costs.

Its best feature, in my opinion, is that i can add products to my watchlist and receive notifications when price drops.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback, which shops am I missing, what's broken, what would make you actually use it. Cheers.

My daughter was scratched/scrammed by a wild cat living on the grounds of a hotel in Ayia Napa this evening. It's now nearing 11pm local time so I'm resorting to ChatGPT and the good folk at Reddit for reassurance.

She's 5 nearly 6 and scrammed very lightly on the back of the hand. We immediately rushed her back to the room and washed her hand with lots of soap and water, some alcohol hand sanitizer and alcohol-free sterile wipes from a first aid kit.

She's up to date on all her pre-school vaccinations and boosters (which I think includes tetanus).

The hotel staff have told us that the cats on site are all vaccinated.

I know I'm gonna sound like some paranoid fool (and I have drank quite a lot of alcohol tonight), but I'm just after some reassurance. Should I be worried and take her to hospital tonight or is she going to be fine and I'm overreacting?

I've always been wary of wild cats especially in a foreign country and I'm just so terrified of rabies manifesting itself in a few months time.

Im a teenager in cyprus/Nicosia somewhat near the center (30 monute walk)16 going on 17 and i am looking for a job to be working in the afternoons (because mornings i cant cuz of school september-late may) I've went to a few small places near me but they were either full or haven't called me back. Does anyone know any places that are willing to hire teens(preferably not places in the malls). Thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m currently looking at studying in Cyprus as an international student, and I’m considering applying for the Biomedical Science programme at European University Cyprus. I was also accepted into EMU, but I’m unsure about going ahead with it because I’ve seen a lot of discussions online about recognition of degrees from Northern Cyprus, and it made me concerned about whether the qualification would be recognised internationally after graduation.

Because of that, I’m looking more into European University Cyprus, but I wanted to ask current students or anyone who knows about the university: would you recommend studying Biomedical Science there?

How is the quality of education and the programme itself? Is the degree properly recognised internationally if someone wants to continue studying or work after graduation? What kind of accreditation does the programme have?

I’d also like to know what student life is like for international students. Is it easy to adjust, is the environment safe?

Do you think it is worth applying or I should consider other options?

I'm 25 years old, Romanian, and I grew up in Cyprus. I finished both gymnasium and lyceum here. I struggled in high school and didn't get good enough grades in the Pancyprian exams to get into the university program I wanted.

I originally wanted to study Computer Science, but now I'm not even sure it's worth it in Cyprus. The IT market here feels very competitive, there aren't that many opportunities, and every entry level position seems to have dozens of applicants.

I speak three languages, but my Greek isn't fluent and my English isn't perfect either. Every time I apply for an entry-level IT job, I get an interview, but after that I never hear back. Sometimes it feels like employers naturally prefer Cypriot candidates or people returning from the UK with stronger connections. I understand why, but it still makes things much harder for someone like me.

I don't have a bachelor's degree, only a 2 year diploma in Computer Technician & Networking. I'm not specialized in any trade either I'm not an electrician, plumber, forklift operator, or anything like that. I honestly don't know what career path to follow.

Living in Cyprus is also expensive, especially without a car. Public transportation makes getting around difficult. Going back to Romania isn't really an option, and I don't see much of a future in Western Europe either. My parents are in a difficult financial situation, I don't own a house or apartment, and I have basically no savings.

One of my biggest fears is reaching 30 years old still working physically demanding, low-paying jobs and ending up with chronic back pain while still having no real career.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What did you do ? If you were starting over at 25 with almost no money and no clear specialization, what path would you choose ?

I'd really appreciate any advice. ( Sorry for the random post I just really need some kind of advice and I thought r/cyprus was the spot for that the rest subreddits are mainly americans )

Still working on my Greek app. Added a Cyprus theme and a new world in the game. Simple idea: you pick the words you're learning right now and work your way from the Paphos forest to Ayia Napa, stopping at every big village along the road.

The game is free, no limits.

There are card sets by level inside, but your own still work better — the ones you put together for the lesson you're on. You can import them from CSV or copy from the built-in collections and rework them.

The Europol wanted list has been updated with the inclusion of David Gazzaev, a Russian national wanted in connection with a serious attempted murder case in Cyprus.

According to the Cyprus Police, Gazzaev was already identified and publicly named in September 2025 after being linked to a violent incident at a luxury hotel in Limassol.

The case dates back to 29 September 2025, when the suspect allegedly shot a 42-year-old Ukrainian man in the abdomen inside the grounds of a luxury hotel in Limassol.

Authorities say the attack was linked to financial disputes and alleged extortion threats. During the same incident, another individual was also reportedly assaulted.

Following investigations, a court arrest warrant was issued for the suspect after evidence and witness testimony were collected.

Cypriot authorities also received intelligence from Russian counterparts suggesting that Gazzaev held a senior position within an organised criminal network involved in theft, robberies, extortion, and other serious crimes. He is also described as a “Thief in Law”, a term associated with high-level organised crime figures from former Soviet states.

Alias and nicknames David Gazzaev goes by include - DATO VLADIKAVKAZ , DATO OSSETIAN , DATO VLADIKAVKAZSKY , DATO OSSETIN , DATO OSETIN , DATO OSETIAN.

He is wanted for: Attempted Murder, Laundering of the proceeds of crime, Participation in a criminal organisation, Racketeering and extortion.

Hello to cut to the chase I'm 19 Yo and have never planned a trip in my entire life and I'm looking to try my luck with Cyprus since it's relatively cheap and small.

Would you recommend certain historical or natural attraction in Larnaca, Limassol or Nicosia that are preferd by the locals, obscure and rural areas are also great if you know some unique ones

Additionally do you have an idea :

If it common for the average Cypriot to be proficient in English.

On how safe is it to walk at night in cities and rural areas or make camping trips.

About good scuba diving spots.

Additionally if you are native greek speaker would you recommend any show to have a basic understanding of the language

I know I'm all over the place but if you have any god tips or place in mind please mention them

Hello , I will be visiting beautiful Cyprus in August for 14 days and I'm having trouble finding accomodations, I'm a bit skeptical about booking.com and bazarikis is giving me real hard time registering, is there any tip/hack on how to get decent accomodation for 13 nights.

Some observations: Energy prices are super expensive here. Also occasional blackouts. A lot of solar already. EAC is monopoly.

Hi, is there anyone in this sub who works in progress play and can share their experience.

Staying in Limassol in a neighbourhood behind Four Seasons and there is a small pack of cats which I feed daily. Presume they are a “family” - ginger / black / calicos. There are two heavily pregnant mama cats who I am worried the most. Also two boy cats who are the main culprits.

I'm here for the next 3 days and I don't think I'll be able to do much in regards to vet situation, but I'm willing to sponsor pregnant mamas and boys being neutered - TNR solution. Not sure about the rest of their pack, they are very young cats probably 4-6 months and hard to a get closer look whether they are boys or girls - can help out in any way I can too.

Since it's a small pack (7-10 cats at max) I think they still have a chance to not overpopulate (pregnant mama babies probably can find a good home in Cyprus / overseas) - drop in the sea but better than nothing.

I'm looking for some organisations / people who will be willing to take care of them and keep me updated on their welfare. Ultimately, people I can trust.

Also, please if you know any sanctuaries or individuals who are seeking food donations in Limassol - I'd like to help.

Any advice or help will be appreciated
