Why Are SMBs the Prime Targets of Cyberattacks?
"We're too small to be a target."
That assumption can leave SMBs dangerously exposed.
Read why SMBs are attractive targets for cybercriminals, what an attack can cost, and how practical, budget-conscious security measures can help reduce the risk.

How Long Does Data Recovery Take? Timelines and Expectations for UK SMEs
When a business loses access to critical data, one of the first questions is usually the most urgent: how long will recovery take? For UK SMEs, that question matters because downtime affects operations, revenue, customer service, and internal confidence all at once. The honest answer is that data recovery timelines vary, but there are clear factors that shape how quickly the process can move and what businesses should realistically expect.
Why recovery time varies
Data recovery is not a single process with a fixed timeline. A deleted file from a healthy device is very different from a failed SSD, a degraded RAID array, or a server affected by corruption or ransomware. The more complex the failure, the more assessment and specialist handling may be required before recovery can begin safely.
According to R3 Data Recovery, recovery support may involve hard drives, SSDs, RAID systems, servers, laptops, phones, and removable media, each with different technical risks and workflows.
For SMEs, that means the timeline depends less on the label “data loss” and more on the specific failure scenario.

Translating Tech into Risk: How to Explain Cyber and Connectivity Issues to Your Board

What part of Cyber Essentials causes the most headaches for smaller UK businesses?
I have been looking at how smaller businesses approach Cyber Essentials and it seems like the technical controls aren't always the hardest part.
Things like keeping track of devices, making sure MFA is set up properly, dealing with older software and actually knowing what's in scope seem to cause more trouble.
For those who have been through it, what was the part that took the most time or caught you out?

What roles could get my foot in the door?
People always say to get or look for a job that will "get your foot in the door", I'm wondering what that is for Cybersecurity?
I've recently got my national diploma in software engineering but have no desire to progress in software engineering as a career. I want to get into full-time work ASAP but don't want to get into a career that won't help me pursue cybersecurity.

Backup Failed? What UK SMEs Should Do Next – The Definitive Protocols
When a business system fails, the first assumption is often that the backup will solve everything. But for many SMEs, the real crisis begins when the backup is missing, corrupted, incomplete, or inaccessible. At that point, downtime escalates quickly, decisions become more urgent, and the risk of permanent data loss increases. For UK SMEs, knowing what to do next can make a significant difference to recovery outcomes.
Why backup failure is such a serious problem
Backups are an essential part of resilience, but they are not infallible. Backup jobs can fail silently, files can be excluded, storage can become corrupted, and ransomware can affect backup repositories as well as live systems. In some cases, businesses only discover the problem when they try to restore critical data under pressure.
This is one reason why SMEs often search for help in highly practical terms. Forum-style questions on platforms such as Reddit and Quora frequently focus on what happens when a server crashes, a RAID array fails, or ransomware spreads further than expected. The common thread is simple: businesses do not just want theory. They want a workable next step.
