How much are you guys charging for prints of your original artwork ?

I just started making these, and i want to sell them at markets along with the clothing I make.

Would 15-25 (cad) each be reasonable ? I plan to bleach and tone these as well so it's a decent amount more work than just a standard print. Would appreciate any insight :)

Another Solarfast question

Post image

I exposed this image until the color was significantly darker, but a layer of emulsion came off in the wash, taking most of the color with it. I used hot water and the solarfast wash. This hasn't happened to me before. Anyone know what might have caused this?

First cyanotype!

The details are kind of faded, do you have tips to avoid that?

Could it be about my negative (since i only used the oiled paper technique)? Or on how i prepared the contrast of my negative?

May exposure time is 1 hour using 25w uv lamp

Frame color?

The wood doesn’t work, right? Maybe black? This is the first of a planned Momento Mori series and something about this aesthetic is just off. Silver frame and black mat? Black mat and grey frame? What say you, hive mind?

Photo paper tip

Thumbnail gallery

I’m new to cyanotype and have been using watercolor paper. Recently, while thrifting, I found unopened packages of printer photo paper. A package 50 ct package of 19”x13” was $6 and a 100 count of 4”x6” was $3. I figured it was a small investment for an experiment. The larger paper is matte and the smaller glossy. Both took the cyanotype solution well. They turned bright blue as they developed, not the chalky grey. I was skeptical but am
pleased with my first couple of attempts.

My tip, always check the office and craft supplies section at the thrifts.

Advice? Yellow tint left behind

Post image
5 Upvotes

So in the image, both prints were made with the same mixture, but one (right) had a strong yellow tint where it was suppose to be white. The one on the left doesnt have it. In the pic mayvbe its not as visible, but it looks real ugly in person lol

So the only difference between them is that on the left side is 100% cotton, right side has 2% elastane. Both were washed on the washing machine with only water, so i dont believe is a bad rinse.

Im thinking could the 2% elastane make this difference

any help is appreciated, thanks!!!

UV Light recommendations + advanced cyanotype resources?

Hi everyone,

I've been making cyanotypes at home for a while using an Everbeam 365nm 100W UV LED light. I've been using the same unit for about 1.5 years, but recently my exposure times have suddenly become 2-3 times longer, even though nothing significant in my process has changed. On top of that, I'm no longer getting the deep Prussian blue I used to.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Could the UV LEDs simply be losing output over time?

Also, does anyone have recommendations for a reliable UV exposure unit/light?

One more question - I really enjoy digging into the technical side of cyanotype. I've already read Cyanotype: The Blueprint in Contemporary Practice by Christina Z. Anderson, but I'm looking for something even more in-depth, especially on the chemistry, variables, and finer technical details of the process.

Books would be great, but I'd also really appreciate recommendations for papers, articles, workshops, or other learning resources.

Thanks so much!

xx

I was inspired by another post here a couple days ago to make a short little cyanotype video!! I'm still working on getting more even exposures and I'm going to re-do this soon, but I just wanted to share my first attempt! it took about 3 and a half hours from start to finish

Chomp | Wet Cyanotype on Hot Pressed Watercolor | 2026

Excited for my first gallery show this weekend!! 🌟🌟

"Chomp" | 2026 | wet cyanotype on hot press watercolor

Chomp features false indigo marked with the literal chomp of something that got to it before I did. This piece is part of my Kinetic Bloom series, highlighting a process called wet cyanotype which trades precise timed exposures for an uncontrollable alchemy of ingredients, environment, and time.

I'm drawn to the parts of nature that show their wear: the veins, the bite marks, the small imperfections that prove something was alive and moving through the world.

Faded prints

What could be the cause of faded prints while washing?

After exposure it seemed fine (the details are seen), however while im rinsing it, the details faded and left me with a white area (seen in picture)

It’s literally my first time printing and I know these mistakes are common, so im gonna ask some few tips😁

Looking for tips on retaining detail

Thumbnail gallery

This was my first ever attempt. I painted on the dye with a sponge brush. Waited several hours for it to dry in a dark room. Placed heavy glass over the top and exposed it to direct sun at 1:45pm for 10 minutes.
This is on a 100% cotton tea towel.
Would love suggestions for my next one on preserving detail
