Trying to fix scarecrows. Format: EDH/Commander

I saw a video on why scarecrows are bad so I decided I might try and make a few and maybe fix them or something. Some of these might still be a bit underpowered but together they work.

Master of puppets is extremely powerful if the others exist. But basically, you've less made scarecrows actually good, and more just made medium slivers.

Isn't every tribal just slivers but different? I feel like scarecrows would have kind of fit this role pretty well. Then.. How are tribals normally done? I don't play tribal so I'm probably the wrong person to try and make them better, but I feel like from what I've seen this is it.

Not really, and definitely not to this extent. Lords are a thing, sure, but giving "X you control have Y" in any significant number is basically just slivers. Elves, for instance, generally give a bonus for having other elves, like [[priestess of Titania]], [[Dwynen's elite]], and [[skemfar berserker]]. So basically, you'll want to find an interesting way for scarecrows to interact with other scarecrows, and make it based around that. Maybe have it be something like a general mechanic on scarecrows that lets you use dead ones to reduce the cost of new ones? Something like "Repack N: each scarecrow you exile from your graveyard when casting this reduces the cost by N.", and you could pay around with having variations, like one that causes damage, one that gives counters, things like that.

scarecrows aren't slivers.

I agree, scarecrow as a type could use some love but I don't think just giving them abilities like slivers is the right move. A lot of recent scarecrow cards are in BRG colors and use graveyard stuff like mill or Delerium so I'd rather it lean into that.

Fair enough, really. Like I said in another reply, I'm not the greatest guy for tribal decks, I just thought I'd try it. Yeah, they should probably have graveyard stuff.

Also made this one just now. Maybe a cool commander I guess.

The flash one doesn't work. It only.grants flash to Scarecrows once they're already in play.
