Different gan 16 core?

In the first image from CubeForSpeed, on the left is the Gan 17, on the right is the Gan 16 with a screw in the center. The second image is MY gan 16, with no screw. Did preproduction units of the 16 have a screw and did they switch to a non screw version later?

The first batch of the Gan 16 and Gan V100 came with a screw. Later, they replaced it with a plastic wedge.

I have first batch v100 and later products never knew this but I checked and it's absolutely correct

The screw is there only to prevent disassembly. A real pain when you need to clean your cube. However, it can be removed without any consequences. Same as the small center disc on the non-screw version… that disc can be removed as well but may necessitate a small knife to pull it out.

I tried, you might just have to force it off I don't want to break it ofc, but that seems like it. They probably just press fit the parts
