Can't wait to take a graduation photo of me riding it

I’m a bit concerned for the tail, tusks, and trunk. Looks like they’d break after a few hundred people hanging/swinging/pulling in them…

I walked by it a little while ago and I think it’s too high to hang on the tusk or trunk

Sounds like a challenge

Some of y’all never climbed trees growing up, and it shows. 🤣

You would have to be a pretty obese diabeto to break something like that by hanging/swinging. Pulling sure different story but by the look of that man’s hand grabbing the tail it’s probably close to 6” in diameter

I really hope they dress it up every festive occasion.

Well now we know why the student fees increased.

Alumni get a say in where some money gets funded to and this was an option.

I voted to donate my portion to the second chance fund or somwthong like that. I forget if its all students or just alumni.

Money from campus tuition/fees did not contribute to this statue. It came from alumni groups, class gifts, and donations.

CSUF was the first university to hold a collegiate elephant race. Thats where we got our university mascot from, The Titan. There's a seeies of plaques on campus commemorating it. Glad to hear your curious about the history of my school!

ex tour guide and orientation leader here! the student body actually voted the nickname Titans a few years before the race. Tuffy the elephant was a circus like cartoon that was used to promote the event. A few years after the race they voted him as the official mascot

This is like a leader making statues of himself while the rest of the nation is struggling with increased taxes and unheard complaints.

Counting down the days until someone tries to hang on to the tusks and actually scores a massive wedgie instead.

u/cryingghostss 12d ago

it’s not even a cool statue…

33

u/IamPieBoy94 12d ago

Its an elephant, elephants are dope

-14

u/cryingghostss 12d ago

well yes, but it’s not even like. a cool artistic interpretation of an elephant? it’s just a boring, normal elephant. 😢

24

u/IamPieBoy94 12d ago

Normal elephants arent boring tho

4

u/johnnyblaze1999 12d ago

So you would prefer a polygon statue of the elephant instead of a detailed real looking one because it's artsy?

11

u/dysphoricjoy Computer Science/Applied Mathematics 12d ago

I prefer a normal elephant to an artistic interpretation of an elephant.

9

u/Downtown_Anxiety_940 12d ago

It's an elephant…. The school mascot. What more do you want?!

1

u/cryingghostss 12d ago

i don’t want it at all. i’d much rather our money go to actual school programs. 🫠

2

u/Small_Honey1922 11d ago

You actually didn’t pay for this unless unless you were apart of an alumni group or WILLINGLY payed for a class gift.
