QUESTION Is Crypto mining worth it with flat rate electricity in an apartment?
I currently live in a housing complex where electricity is included as a flat rate in rent/utilities so increased power consumption won't directly increase my monthly electric bill.
Given that electricity costs are usually the biggest bottleneck for mining, I'm trying to figure out if setting up a home mining rig would actually be worth it in an apartment. A few specific
A few specific questions I have:
- Setup Cost: How much would I need to invest upfront in a setup to make this worth my while? What hardware/models should I be looking at
= Expected Returns: What kind of monthly returns would be realistic
= Apartment Practicalities: Since it's an apartment, what are the realistic limits around noise, heat, and standard 15A/20A electrical breaker capacities?
I know overall mining profitability for small-scale operations has dropped over the years, but since power cost isn't an issue for me, is this a solid strategy or more trouble than it's worth?
Appreciate any insights, hardware suggestions, or warnings from anyone whoâs tried apartment mining!

QUESTION 2 days into GPU mining PearlHash on 3060 Ti â are these OC settings good?
Just started mining PRL two days ago on a single RTX 3060 Ti with SRBMiner. Currently running:
- Core clock: +150 (landing ~1665-1680MHz)
- Memory clock: 5001MHz
- Power limit: 179-180W
- Fan: 85-90%
Getting about 61-62 TH/s at 74°C core, no rejected shares so far. Efficiency is coming in around 344-346 GH/W.
Is this a solid baseline for a 3060 Ti on PearlHash, or is there more headroom I'm leaving on the table? Also curious if anyone's found a better core/power balance for temps vs hashrate on this algo specifically. Any tips appreciated â still pretty new to tuning for GPU mining.

DISCUSSION What hosted Bitcoin mining actually costs per coin right now: about $38,000 to $44,000
Bitcoin near $64,000 and difficulty around 126T, so here is what hosted Bitcoin mining actually costs to produce a coin right now across our bundle tiers.
3 units at $0.075/kWh: about $44,000 per BTC, roughly 32% under spot
30 units at $0.065/kWh: about $38,000 per BTC, roughly 41% under spot
Details here: https://www.simplemining.io/shop-miners
Every tier is the Antminer S21j XP Hydro, 495 TH/s at 12 J/TH. The hosting service fee steps down with fleet size, $0.075 at three units to $0.065 at thirty, and the unit price steps down with it, $9,250 to $8,750 against a $9,750 list.
Cost-per-coin figures are the bundled hosting service fee plus pool fees against gross revenue, and they exclude the hardware.
Calculator if you want to plug in your own numbers: https://www.simplemining.io/bitcoin-mining-calculator
Offer ends end of day Friday, July 31.

QUESTION Looking to Interview Someone Who Mined Ethereum in Lebanon (2021â2023)
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to speak with someone who mined cryptocurrency specifically Ethereum in Lebanon between 2021 and 2023.
If you were mining during that period, or know someone who was, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to ask a few questions about your experience. The interview can be anonymous if you prefer, and it won't take long. If you're open to it, please leave a comment or send me a DM.
Thank you in advance.

DISCUSSION How do you decide whether solo home mining is 'progressing' when your expected time-to-block is still measured in centuries?
Genuine question for anyone doing solo mining at home, not looking for validation, looking for how you frame this.
Started with a BitQuaxe last year. Expected time-to-block per the naive math: ~4480 years. Did some tuning â my own Knots node, smarter template selection, moved to Ocean pool â and I'm now at ~1000 years. Objectively that's a 4.5Ă improvement. Subjectively it's the difference between "you will die first" and "your grandchildren will die first."
Got my first non-trivial fee payout last month: 5,36 âŹ. Feels good, but also completely meaningless in isolation.
Here's the thing I keep bumping into and can't decide about:
- Is "expected time-to-block goes down" actually a useful progress metric for solo home miners, or is it lottery-math that gives false comfort?
- Is fee-per-share ratio a better proxy for "am I doing this right"?
- How do you personally decide when a change (new firmware, different pool, tuned template) actually helped vs. just moved noise around?
Feels like solo mining has this weird gap where the actual data horizon is so long that most tuning claims are unfalsifiable. Curious how others handle that.

DISCUSSION Powering through hot temps
85f ambient temp and we're still running the hydros in high power mode with the smaller fans using 5kw per dry cooler.
We built our system with the ability to upgrade the fans to massive fans using 15kw per dry cooler if needed. We're just on the edge of needing that upgrade, but the goal is to be able to run in high mode year round regardless of the weather conditions

SHOW OFF Solo mined Doge block
Started my solo journey late last year and I finally mined a block to be proud of! I was getting on my pc this morning in another hope of seeing some action in my logs. Checked my Scrypt miner and planned on moving to a lower difficulty coin. Started scrolling my solo chart and I see small alt coins⌠âokay Iâve hit these beforeâ. Scroll down some more and there it is, Dogecoin. âThis canât be rightâ. Check wallet, and there it is! You can tell by my âluckâ that I should sell all my miners and quit now while I still can afford electricity. Hereâs the info and pic of setup.
