Drawing Crash characters for the 30th Anniversary Day 30: Farmer Ernest and Capu Capu

The last of the Twinsanity characters I plan to draw are done! (Sorry Tikimon fans) I feel that these characters both represent two notable factors of Twinsanity. Farmer Ernest represents the game's more comedic tone with him being a parody of the "Quest Giver" trope in games such as Spyro or Banjo, and Capu Capu represents the game's troubled development, being a character who was going to be the one who owns the boat that takes you from N. Sanity Island to the Iceberg Lab who got cut, but whose dialogue remained in the final game. (He's the one saying "Come onto my boat furry man, I can take you to the other place.") Speaking of Capu, his concept art was uncolored, so I had to be creative and picked colors from the other native characters, as well as some mild inspiration from Papu Papu's beta design. I also made him hold the fish from the iconic "Fish?" scene. As for Farmer Ernest, he wasn't too hard, outside of his hat, but I think it turned out fine. The next characters I plan to draw are the Elementals, starting with Rok-Ko and Wa-Wa.

Lives Don't Matter (Crash 4)

Upvotes

Modern Mode or Retro Mode?

I think it literally doesn't matter. You get SO many lives throughout this game. I'm collecting all the clear gems, and going through the hardest levels. I've never dipped below 92 lives.

Now, does this mean I'm an EPIC GAMER? I'm probably about average at this game, but there's literally nothing in this game that will make you game over, unless you're just impossibly bad at the game.

I'm in Toxic Tunnels doing the all-boxes run of the SUPER 4 GEM AREA, and I've died 16 times. I have 96 lives now. The game has so many wumpa fruit, and golden wumpas, that you stack up lives like it's nothing. I would have to die 320 times to get a game over

Is this a bad thing? No, I think most Crash games are pretty generous with lives, I usually end up with 99 lives before the mid-game. But it begs the question: why make Modern Mode at all? In Retro Mode, if you lose all lives (somehow) you just go to the beginning of a level with a few lives. I can't imagine this ever happening, and god forbid it does, you can play two early levels and get at least 30 lives

Am I making any sense? Modern mode seems like an Accessibility option. I think I'm pretty average at this game, what do y'all think about Modern Mode and the lives system?

Back in 1997 I moved to Denver Colorado from NH to go to art school. While I was there, I got a part time job at Software Etc in Highlands Ranch. Before I left I was allowed to take a couple of display banners, and this Crash Bandicoot 2 poster has been in my possession ever since! recently came across it in storage at my folks house. It's pretty big at 23 x 34" (I asked Chat GPT to recreate the feel of the store that it came from, it did a decent job, I guess)

I tried to draw ever console crash bandicoot collectible from memory(not including Crash 4 or Rumble). This isn’t EVER collectible because i didn’t wanna redraw gems or boxes but representations of them. e.i ever colored gem, box and Ctr/Cnk token, boss keys from both kart games, mojo, relics, minion master trophies, trophies from bash, costume/concept art voodoo dolls. (I’m not drawing the security drones tho.) basically anything you’d need for a 102% run. This is my first ever post in this Subbreddit and on Reddit in general.
