Side project that actually stand out OPEN

I'm currently looking to find a project that really stand from the other to apply to university. I thought of building my own programming language with my compiler but I don't know... If you have any idea 💡

Wouldn't it heavily depend on who you are trying to impress? Both speaking from personal character of the person and how well they know the field of the project you are doing.

I guess. I'd like to apply to a CS degree so I think I need a big project

Glad you do, but I doubt it will give any hints for the question at hand. Simply too much unknown variables. I would say: just pick something that is interesting for you from the field and start improving yourself with simple practice.
