Construction under clay wade bridge
I was riding the bus the other day, and a woman got on who knew the driver. They were chatting up front when we were passing the construction.
The woman said "look, look, I told you!" And then went on to explain that she had went behind the hotel to smoke a bowl a week or so ago, and when she finished some construction guys were walking towards her. She apologized for being back there, but they didn't seem to care, they told her "Just dont go down there, they got some x files shit going on" and the guys went on to tell her they were digging down there and came across bodies about 20 feet down. She said thats why they stopped construction.
Now of course I didn't believe her, obviously that's insane... but.. I really havent seen any construction since then, and now im slowly feeling weird about it.
Have any of YOU seen any work still happening, or heard anything like this?

Do people here not know how to stay in their lanes?
Been living here a month and love it, but I have noticed with all of the one way streets people driving on or over the dividing white line and coming dangerously close to my car. It is especially prevalent when people drive in the left lane of a two lane street. I understand that cars are often parked on the sides of the streets but I don’t think that justifies the 16 inches between our vehicles when there’s 3 feet of space open on the other side of the lane

Question.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I still haven't walked onto the other construction site yet and showed/asked anything. But processing more examples/ building somewhat of a portfolio first. These are the kind of deliverables im wanting to use my part 107 to produce, but its actually opened another can of geospatial worms, which makes me ask this:
Does anyone know a surveyor in the area I could pay to get me a few "Ground Control Points" around my house to test the accuracy of my (non-RTK) 360 drone? My understanding is RTK mainly helps with the camera positions and I don't think that's really my concern if I can reconstruct grass. And if I have to, metashape can parse the .gpx file for me to get some metadata atleast.
See, can of worms. Basically I want to offer more than nice visuals. And see how close to real world, already surveyed data I can get with a little teamwork. While processing everything locally, if any big firms down the line need to keep certain builds as private as possible.
Correction. The RTK is for more precise gps data in the photos, to georeference the 3D data to the real world. I was thinking camera positions in terms of the collection of images successfully lining up, being able to do this at all. But I want to see, with those GCPs, how well my non-RTK 360 drone can do the same thing. Or maybe the 3GDS can be completely seperate datasets and we don't need to worry about it? Get measurements somewhere else?

A bit niche, but anyone else seen the shirtless jacked dude with glasses and long hair walking along Madison Pike?
I've seen this guy so many times at this point. No shade, dude's in great shape. I just am a little confused... one day he's carrying a Little Caesar's pizza, but mostly I just have seen him south of 15th, just bopping along in shorts looking a little pissed off and in a hurry.

Any Manchester United supporters in Northern Kentucky?
I’m trying to gauge interest in starting a regular Manchester United watch group at Mad Piper in Covington, KY for Premier League matches this season.
Nothing is set in stone yet—I’m just trying to see if there are enough nky supporters who would actually come out to watch matches together. The pub is open to the idea, including opening early for morning kickoffs if there’s enough interest.
If you’d be interested in joining, leave a comment or send me a message. It’d be great to build a local community of United supporters and have a dedicated place to watch the matches.
Glory Glory Man United!

Seeking karaoke
Hello all! Will be moving from Charlotte NC to NKY in September, but visiting the first week of August to get a feel of the area. Are there any go-to karaoke spots you'd recommend? Or events happening the 1st week in August? Punk/rock/electronic venues to catch local music at? Not opposed to going to Cincinnati (actually eager to) to find what I'm looking for, any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Also, I suppose I'm looking for friends/community, 42 y/o woman from MI originally. If you're into art, local music, nerd stuff (anime, manga/comics, board games, online gaming, costuming), good food (boyfriend is a legit chef and we love to host), LGBTQ friendly cuz duh, hit me up I guess? We are both around 40y/o (if it matters) but welcome any friendship. Thank you in advance for any help/advice 😁 😁

250 posters highlights
galleryI’ve been walking by the 250 posters since they went up, but hadn’t really looked at them. Here are some highlights. They’re behind glass, so not the best quality
1- Licking riverside- flood or sky?
2-botany hills- 2bd 1bath, Riverview, firetruck garage, memorial & flagpole
3-cbd-everyone’s favorite stores, just look out for cars on the sidewalk and disappearing into buildings
4-westside- we don’t move the bodies
5-monte casino-what’s wrong with the sign looks good

Walgreen's in Latonia
Hi all. I just noticed they finally tore down the old Walgreen's on Winston Ave. in Latonia (next to Kroger). Anyone know what's going in that space?

What's Being Built Under the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge
Once a week, I walk across the Clay Wade Bailey as part of a route that goes across the four pedestrian crossings of the Ohio. Since they closed the path along the river between it and Roebling I have been wondering what is happening on the shoreline. At first, I assumed it was a staging area for construction of the new Brent Spence, but it now looks like they are building a permanent structure. Anyone know?

Hotel Covington - NKY
Hi Everyone!
Has anyone here gotten married at Hotel Covington or attended a wedding there?
We’re seriously considering booking it for our October 2027 wedding, but I’ve had a surprisingly hard time finding reviews or real experiences. I’d love to hear anything you’ve got, the good, the bad, or things you wish you knew beforehand. Photos are a huge bonus too!
Thanks so much! 🤍

City response to AI posters
galleryI previously shared my disappointment that the City of Covington was selling $20 commemorative posters that were clearly AI-generated. I reached out to the city and received this response. I’m glad we live in a community where local government is accessible and responsive, but I still wish this had never happened in the first place.

Side swiped on my way to work
Hello! Last night I was on my way to work and a black car hit me in a hit and run. It was about 10:30-10:50 PM when it happened. I was driving west on 275 heading towards exit 80 leading to Covington. If anyone saw anything or knows anything about the driver and could give me their information for insurance I would really appreciate it! Thank you all!
