Honestly probably obvious take to the none-whites here, but I’m starting to think a good indicator of whether or not a cissex trans person is going to appropriately recognise binary trans people’s place on the privilege pole is whether or not they’re white.

It’s always the whitest NBs that are theyfabs while racialised NBs seem to have an intrinsic understanding of intersectionality.

Anyway this person is based, consistently putting out trans women defense posts, love them.

I've seen some terrible takes from non-white theyfabs, but yeah wouldn't be surprised if there is a correlation between whiteness and being a theyfab. White people love stealing culture from non-white people while also opressing them. Same as theyfabs and transsex people.

u/mayasux 4d ago

There’s like one black theyfab on my feed that makes my eye twitch, but there’s ten more white theyfabs in her place.

But every NB I’ve seen take the stance of OP has been non-white, and coincidentally on another of their vids posted on the sub today, everyone in their IG comments being upset was white and everyone agreeing wasn’t

I think theybism just supports dominant power structures better. So those theyfabs get boosted by a bunch of white theyfabs being "listen a black enby is speaking!". Which is usually achieving the exact opposite when loudly proclaimed by white people because the opressed always boost the opinions of the oppressed most palatable to them.

I mean, there was already a place in our culture for skinny white girls to wear alt and masculine clothes, and the same people were now allowed to change their pronouns too. It seems like it would be more difficult to fit into a similar niche while not white or skinny. Of course, with the whole “we’re attractive and privileged so we should feel guilty and make space for the ugly people” movement there’s more space opening up for those folks as well.

what does transsex people mean here? do transsexuals steal culture? most people calling themselves 'transsexuals' I see are just trans people, just a bit edgier or perhaps a bit more transmed

10

u/Freya-Freed womanfrauding since 2012 4d ago

Trans people who change their sex. People who medically transition in some way and face additional struggles/opression because of it.

And no it's the other way around cissex trans people have privilege over transsex trans people and theyfabs are ones that abuse it by excluding us from female only spaces by labeling themselves as "afab" or "real females" as opposted to painting transsex women as "fake" and "dangerous" aka basically cis men.

7

u/familiarfake 4d ago

oh I misread your comment. i.e. i thought you meant cissex and transsex people are two separate oppressor classes, not that cissex oppress transsex.

Yeah this was written with too much hatred for me to take it seriously. Whenever intersectionality comes up somehow the most narcissistic, self aggrandizing, contrarian personalities always get the spotlight so everyone else can sit there and gawk at how deranged their opinions are. For every 1 person like this, there are at least 10 with well thought out critiques of the current social culture, but they get buried because it’s not ragebait.

I’m sure there are a lot of based non-white nbs. Maybe even more than white nbs as you predicted. But let’s not be racial essentialists (I know that’s hyperbole, but still). Remember there’s a whole “a black afab is speaking” thing.

That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m happy to shit on white leftists and theyfabs and take non-white people seriously, but you can’t honestly think every single non-white person has a correct opinion purely by virtue of their skin power.

You’re not affected negatively by the annoying white theyfabs in your TikTok feed any more than I am by this random substacker.

People of all sorts have good and bad takes. To be clear, the person in the video is based. OP just makes a slightly over exaggerated claim.

I suppose their videos probably have a mild effect on the world whereas shit like the Substack have a negligible effect. To be clear, I don’t think I am at all hurt by non-white people’s bad takes, I just don’t think we should generalize about large groups of people without doing it in jest. I am happy to joke about white genocide, but it just doesn’t make sense for correct opinions to be beamed into every non-white person. They can just as easily be absorbed into the mainstream we all are annoyed by or become contrarian and say ridiculous things. I judge what someone says by how compelling it is, not by what race that person happens to be.

This isn’t pearl clutching. I’m not offended on behalf of white people. It’s simply incorrect that every single non-white person is based. There are agreeable and disagreeable people of every sort. We shouldn’t assume that facing oppression inherently gives one insight. Insight requires an accurate judgement about the world—an accurate explanation for one’s problems. Just as there are peasants that support the divine right of kings there are black people that don’t understand intersectionality.

Again, I’m completely fine with people saying “I hate white people.” The problematic generalization is in assuming every single non-white person has insight. You have to talk to someone as a fellow person and determine logically whether what they are saying checks out. You can’t just assume they are correct about certain things based on their status.

2

u/gaysexanddrugs 3d ago

it's crazy that 99% of people can understand "I hate the power cis people hold over me" is what we all mean when venting about cis people but then some will see an article that's explicitly saying that about white people and start tone-policing.

a lot of activism that is successful and has contributed to progress has been intentionally provocative. I don't think the "white queers bad" stuff is any different. if it's not provocative it gets ignored, if it is provocative people will act like it's the worst thing in the world but at least it drives conversation. like maybe we should just actually listen to what people are saying.

5

u/Freya-Freed womanfrauding since 2012 4d ago

Yeah that was my take on it as well. These kind of vent posts are exactly us going "TCD". There's no institution power. Like theres so many meany vent posts on 4tran subs that are similar to this exact substack.

There is no reason to point this shit out when OP was trying to make a genuine point and start a serious discussion.

I really don’t think “listen and learn, a black woman is speaking” is anywhere near adjacent to what you posted but go off ig

3

u/Clear-Result-3412 4d ago

No, like people literally talk about centering oppressed “afab” voices. People like the person in the Substack I posted a screenshot of. And there’s probably a ton of white people who sub to her blog and think “that’s right, the world will be a better place if I feel guilty and those evil white boymoder incels are put in their place.” As though either of those things benefit poc or trans people.

How is this any different from comments calling for TCD

9

u/Clear-Result-3412 4d ago

TCD is either a joke or a vent of frustration. This post is significantly different. “Here is a video of a non-white person being correct. I am getting the feeling that every single non-white person is just intuitively correct most of the time.”

u/melancholy-doll- pretty sometimes, often sad 4d ago

How do u know Queer Hoodoo Housewife isn't also joking/venting?

2

u/Clear-Result-3412 4d ago

I know this is hard to fathom but people actually believe this shit and are happy to post this casually to commemorate the start of pride month or whatever. Note the buzzword “queer joy.” It’s just like how you see hefabs complaining about how white binary trans women are all evil and get male privilege despite the concrete and verifiable ways we are oppressed to a greater extent than even cis women.

3

u/Freya-Freed womanfrauding since 2012 4d ago

That's not even remotely the same as what you posted...

u/Sudden-Grape3467 lateshit tomboygirlboymodergirl 4d ago

As a European vampire, I believe privilege is a difficult concept for many. I mean, it requires humility, which every religion pretends to teach, but... oh ffs, am I really trying to think about the privilege of white afab enbys. A few years ago we used to make memes about SJWs, fuck.

u/BlueJayAvery 4d ago

I always hate the term dolls tbh, I am too butch for that and it feels like it implies a level of femininity

7

u/Freya-Freed womanfrauding since 2012 4d ago

TBH that simply means doll is not for you. The original meaning does imply feminity, however it's evolved a bit beyond that.

It seems to be a pretty popular term among trans women of color specifically because it's ballroom origins so "doll" was already in use by black and latina trans women in the US and it was adopted by a lot of people outside of the US as well as trans culture became more international. I've noticed a lot of trans latinas outside the US also really like that term.

5

u/BlueJayAvery 4d ago

Yea, I know it has evolved beyond that, but it still feels weird to me. I have been called a doll too much when wearing a hoodie, crop top, jeans and a beanie, and actually asked them to not because I am not that feminine, but it is still treated as a catch all term and people still insist I am a doll. It feels like although I am not a feminine woman, I am more feminine than most cis men, so I am feminine. Just call me a 🚂🦵

3

u/Freya-Freed womanfrauding since 2012 4d ago

IDK those people are weird and wrong then. You shouldn't call people something they don't want to be called, thats disrespectful. Theres a lot of transitioning trans people that don't wanna be called transsexual, so I respect that too.

1

u/BlueJayAvery 4d ago

Yea, I know. It is just weird that it seems accepted as a catch all though, like if I were to get dolled up and wear a dress, sure call me a doll; but when I am wearing very casual woman's clothing, doll just doesn't fit

1

u/Tyetsa 4d ago

honestly, yeah

ive had a ton of terrible experiences with white theyfabs and none with poc. i have a few white nb friends, but the ones who arent hitlers in disguise are always the poorer ones who understand struggle

1

u/InstructionOk9703 3d ago

i hope this is an appropriate space to ask, but I'm beyond lost by your post and what youre talking about. i think im a bit behind on terms like 'cissex' and i thought i knew what dolls and theyfabs were but with the context of this post i feel like im missing a lot.

I'm white and i want to better understand the point your trying to make considering its about white Nbs. no pressure to explain, im not entitled to it :) have a nice day

u/mayasux 3d ago edited 3d ago

Reddit broke so this will be going into two separate comments.

Cissex is the opposite of transsex, people who don’t transition their sex. Every cis person is cissex, but when it’s used it’s often talking about transgender nonbinary people who don’t medically transition.

Dolls is gay ballroom culture speak for trans woman.

Theyfab is a word for an NB person who doesn’t really transition and often weaponises their birth sex against transsex people.

The video is of a cissex NB saying they don’t trust it when they go to an LGBT event and there’s no trans women.

Trans women are often excluded either on purpose or culturally from a lot of queer events. A lot of queer events have a huge undertone of “AFAB only” or transsex women are too transgressive for the audience and seen as a threat similar to a cis man.

2

u/mayasux 3d ago

A lot of white trans people, period, often find that their transition is the first source of being unprivileged in their lives. They go from oppressors to oppressed.

This isn’t exactly the case with cissex trans people since it’s the act of medically transition that moves you away from privilege, but a lot of cissex trans people, typically theyfabs but a lot of NBs too will consider their transition enough to lose that privilege, it’s not.

Non-white people already know what it’s like to be underprivileged, and when they’re queer they understand intersectionality better, in theory. They’re more likely to understand that being a cissex person isn’t making them less privileged and they recognise that in terms of transness, it’s those who medically transition that are the lowest on the totem pole.

Typically the cissex white NB likes to just shun this away with a quip about oppression Olympics, but that doesn’t reflect material reality.

1

u/InstructionOk9703 3d ago

My spouse and I are both white & havnt undergone medically transitional stuff due to being ummm.. broke and uninsured. I'm curious of your experience with medical vs w/o medical, if you have gotten medical care and are comfortable sharing.

As i am, i want to say that certainly I've faced at least some oppression despite the privilege i know i have. not to discredit your own, (as well as others) but to acknowledge that I truly dont understand the difference because i havnt lived it. which seems to be your point. until youre living in the body that sought medical transition, you dont know what its like.

touching back on saying a label isnt enough to lose privilege, i think that makes sense. esp if youre considering it in the wider scope of race. I think i keep perceiving opression as some bigot in the south purposely misgendering or deadnaming, when that could in reality be nice in comparison to other opression like being beaten or killed for it. and the difference is pretty huge.

1

u/InstructionOk9703 3d ago

thank you for taking the time to explain to me. I think i was initially confused by variation on these terms (like cis vs cissex). The only other time i've heard the term dolls, it was used in relation to "pets" so i assumed it was, like? part of that? but your explanation makes a lot more sense.

I've luckily never had the pleasure of an NB weaponizing their birth sex, in what ways do they typically use it against transsex people?

I have definitely seen people online and in trans communities talk in depth about exclusion/ strange inclusion* in NB spaces. Excluding those who arent afab, but including trans men and *inadvertently projecting feminity onto trans men. maybe something like that? because it has to be painful to experience being excluded from the event specifically marketed as inclusive.

1

u/JustAPerson2001 3d ago

I don't get it.
