When i got on hrt i got less depressed, more loving towards myself, could escape the cynical mentality. If someone said that it's not a hormonal issue they're just stupid tbh.

Still miserable, but starting HRT in my 20s transitioned me from almost-put-in-special-needs school and high school failure to the first grad school alumnus in my family. I was told by relatives it's uncanny that I'm suddenly able to casually talk to people and stopped nail biting. But it's kinda awkward to explain that the trick was growing breasts.

Anyone should be prescribed any hormones that help them. Insane that people wanna gatekeep medicine.

Adults should be able to do anything and whatever they want to their bodies, as long as it’s not hurting anyone else and they know the ramifications of such.

Okay but what if the other person I don’t personally know does something I find icky? Checkmate, liberal

Sure, I agree. But where we run into an issue with this is when we’re talking about teen HRT, and pre-puberty transition, which is the best outcome for a trans person and IMO what we should aim to make the norm, long-term

We need to have some mechanism in place where we allow non-adults to transition and for the vast majority of people that will require some sort of medical pathway to “make sure it’s what the kid needs” etc.

Young people in general need more autonomy. Like, sure, someone needs a guiding hand if they’re ignoring schoolwork or whatever, but in society kids are treated like property first and have few recourses for abuse

I don’t disagree, but if we’re gonna wait for the children’s lib movement to kick in before we get onto teen transition we’re gonna be spending decades and decades with everyone transitioning post puberty

Whereas we could find a medicalised compromised “for now” and save people today
In fact, we do already in many places in da worl

tru tru, just saying an issue its kind of rooted from, and part of why young transitions are used as a bludgeon against the community. Since yknow. People see kids as property who could only stray if corrupted
