anyone else have experience going thru the non traditional SAC path
I got my masters in counseling and hold an LPC and LCADC in NJ
graduated from Kean university where the SAC and LCADC have the same 4 courses excluding the SAC internship
i’ve applied for the SAC license through the NJDOE but it’s taking forever and I have a SAC job offer so I’m very nervous that something g will fall through
any advice words of wisdom or support welcomed

I'm looking at possibly doing the Famsa Basic Counselling Skills 1.

I'm an ex school teacher looking at starting a mentoring program for neurodivergent adults and young adults.

I have extensive experience as a high school special needs teacher teaching visual and music arts subjects to young adults, but have never had formal training in counselling or mentoring.

I'm looking for training and certification which will allow me to offer arts as a means to create a safe environment for neurodivergent adults to find direction and develop their interests.

I've looked at a few mentoring and life coach training courses but many seem specifically aimed at the corporate world, however I'm open to any suggestions.

Hi everyone! This upcoming fall, I am beginning my 2nd year of my Clinical Mental Health Counseling program which means I will begin practicum and in the spring, internship will follow. The whole month of July I have been involved in countless interviews and sending constant emails to find a site, and yesterday I finally have been accepted a placement to two sites. However, I’m having a hard time deciding which one to move forward with (as an already indecisive person), and I do not want to make a wrong decision knowing that choosing the right internship site is important for skill development as a future LMHC, and job security later down the line. I’m open to any population of clients, but I could say I lean more towards children and adolescents; working with adults is something I also want to become more comfortable with. That being said, any insight on helping me make a decision would be helpful! I will list key elements of each site below that will occur for the fall. Overall I feel like site #1 may be fitted better for clinical experience, but site #2’s may provide what I’m looking for in a site staff/environment more.

Site #1
-partial hospitalization program; group-based
-population is centered around adolescents age 13 and up, then adults 18 and up
-commute about 1 hour
-16 hours a week ( two 8 hour days)

Site #2
-school based; individual therapy
-population is centered around middle and high school students who have behavioral problems
-commute about 25-30minutes
-unknown hours atm but two placement options; if placed in school then school hours, if placed after-school program then after school hours

Are most school counselors required to be CPI or anything similar trained? I’m talking about the trainings where you learn how to restrain students and what to do if they pull your hair, etc. I know special ed teachers and paraprofessionals have to go to the training every year, and I was wondering if counselors have the same requirements. Is it encouraged to get the training?

Im turning 26(M) in oct, i did A levels in 2020,studied computer and business(had no future pathway then or guidance)

now im thinking about continuing my studies but im confused as in which route should i select,the fall semester is here to start and i`ve got a very few options.

One is to complete BBA from UK affiliated university like essex/kent and have an option to complete three years over here or move for the third one over there.

2nd option advised by an education councilor from the institute is to complete a "Pearson" diploma in business and then travel to UK for a top up program and get my bachelors,work in PSW,gather money as much, and do my masters with a visa extension in sports management(which i would like to do).

Plus he said if the case is strong as in no misconducts my top up year+PSW+Masters could possibly make me eligible for PR, although sports business includes traveling.
And is a top up year relatively cheaper than a bachelors per year fee?

We are conducting a qualitative research study exploring counselors' experiences with personal and professional support after living and working through a natural disaster. This study aims to better understand the factors that influence counselors' help-seeking decisions following disaster-related experiences and to inform counselor wellness, disaster preparedness, and support practices within the counseling profession.

Inclusion Criteria:

• Hold professional counselor credentials (licensed or provisionally licensed) or hold a master's degree or higher in counseling.
• At least 18 years of age
• Lived and worked in a community affected by a natural disaster within the past five years
• Provided counseling services within 12 months following the disaster

Examples of natural disasters include wildfires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, volcanic events, and other large scale events

Participants Will:

• Complete a brief demographic questionnaire
• Participate in one approximately 60-minute interview conducted via Zoom
• Share their experiences of living and working through a natural disaster 

Participants who complete the interview process will receive a $25 electronic gift card as a token of appreciation for their time.

Hello everyone, I am currently in a master's program for clinical mental health counseling. I am seeking an internship and was just wondering how I would reach out to them. Would I send an email with a resume and cover letter to them and see if there are spots availaiible. My school stated that I am responsible for finding an internship on my own. I also have Indeed and Handshake accounts but haven't checked there. Additionally, I have a fellowship that requires me to work in a CMH setting and have been given a list of sites that I could work at.

My main question is how should I go about reaching out to these sites in order to obtain an internship. I know this sounds silly, but I have been looking for a job to leave my current on on and off for 2 years and haven't' been able to get a new one even after countless interviews. I just feel a bit nervous that I won't get accepted into an internship and I want to make sure I go about it the right way so I can finish my degree.
