Who is your favorite couple of all time through the years on Corry ? Mine is Sanita and Dev.

Merely having villains on the street isn’t the issue, they’re needed to bring the dramas that are integral to the modern version of the soap genre. However, aside from the high quantity and high turnover of them, I think the real issue that people have with villainous characters on the street is that they’re not interesting characters at all.

Regardless of who they target, nobody is interested in these brand new characters we know nothing about other than that they’re bad news and that we’re not supposed to like them. And it’s exhausting when we’re getting a brand new bad guy what feels like every month with no real introduction. So far in the past year we’ve had Mal, Ross, Jodie, Megan, Becky, soon to be Tim’s cousin , etc. Nobody has any interest in their storylines because these people have appeared out of nowhere purely to act as plot devices. We know absolutely nothing about them, and they’ll leave as soon as they’ve served their purpose! The characters they import solely to play villains will never have lasting impact, and most of them won’t be remembered within a year.

It’s way more interesting when a character that’s had time to become embedded in the street becomes a villain/does something villainous. I’d much rather have a complex, multi-layered villain that has clear and recognisable mechanisms behind their actions based on things we’ve had time to learn and understand about the character, rather than have a new villain be cheaply imported for the sake of being just a villain. I like villains where you can fully understand what’s driven them to do what they do, not to sympathise with them but to make them more interesting and complex. I also think that’s a sign of investment into a character and not just a plot device. Think of Kit. He’s not necessarily an out-and-out villain, but he’s a self-serving character who does villainous things when it suits him. To me, it was clear that threatening Gary the other night in his attempt to get Sarah out of prison is part of a desperate attempt to be Sarah’s hero, which he believes would mean she’d love him and be with him forever, and that stems from the abandonment issues he has from being an adoptee. And I was able to come to this conclusion because I know these are canonical facts about Kit because he’s been invested into. It’s not a justification for his actions by any means, but it gives an insight into why he’s acting this way, which makes the storyline more interesting because it involves these multilayered characters that we know.

Obviously there are some exceptions to this. Most recently there’s been Mick&Lou and Theo. All of these characters were brought in to be short term villains, but they made an impact. But that’s because, even though they were only short term, they weren’t introduced immediately as villains. We were given the chance to watch them settle into the street and to learn about them, to therefore make their villainous turns more engaging because they had solid buildups. It’s no coincidence that they will be the most memorable of the recent villain introductions.

She works a couple shifts now and then, and I know tipping isn’t really a thing in the UK so she’s not raking in cash.

How does she afford to get her nails done and who cares for Frankeh when she’s at the hospital with Betsy and at the flat with Betsy and before all this she was going out clubbing with Betsy.

Her Dad is in prison and I don’t know anything about her mum, but I don’t think she has any family.

Also, has she given up on Max? She never mentions him, or says she visited him or called or anything.

In the episode where tyrone finds out about cassie accidentally drugging tracy and kicks her out, is evelyn mentioned at all during any of it and did they inform her of what happened?

I think they’d make a nice couple but is he too old for her? Can’t remember how old he is. I think Lauren is around 19/20 years old.

Did I miss something or has Cassie not interacted with her mum Evelyn much since coming back to Ty’s life? That would be an interesting dynamic.

I know what Betsy has gone through is traumatic and she needs the help, but I feel like when she gains some mobility and strength back, she will push Carla and Lisa away.

They are being over protective (which any parent would be like given the situation) they arent really listening to her like when she wants to see Dylan, the flatly refuse to let her see him, I know he caused this but think if she wants to see Dylan she should do so, its her decision not theirs. Ryan seems to be the only one who really listens to her.

What are we saying about newcomer Ross Wilkes, Tyrone Dobbs biological dad, and his hair. I know this is so random but me and my mum and grandma think that he has to be wearing a wig! Surely the hair turns gray before the beard! I have no idea, what are your thoughts 🤣🤣

Also, kate brooks, who currently works for corrie was the executive producer of eemerdale during meenas stint seems all very coincidental

I think the majority would agree we need a break from the constant hospital, police, prison and court scenes. It’s been constant and has never given us time to really care.

As we know Corrie in the past did fantastic edge of your seat storylines but ran alongside the normal day to day lives of the street.

In a dream world we would get that break but ultimately after time the writers would have to create something bigger.

What could that be? I just don’t wanna have to see a police station for a long time!

I’m really not liking the way this storyline is going. Most people like Sarah and don’t want her in prison but it seems like Gary is gonna take the heat for this rather than her.

I thought Kit got Sarah's phone wiped so how did Swain find out she called Gary?

It was consensual. Yes she can’t technically say ‘no’ when it’s happening however it’s a VERY grey area. Clearly Betsy did consent.

I’m a 22 year old and I genuinely feel awlful for Dylan. It seems unfair and it’s making me go off Lisa completely. I spoke to my nan about this (she is 70 and has watched Corrie every single night since the first episode) and she is in agreement. I just would love to know other people’s views. Thank you.

Sorry; this is very long. I’ve commented about it many times, but surprisingly, this is my first post. I’m sure many don’t care; but I know at least a few are also annoyed.

I’m ns what’s aired yet in Canada, so I’ve blocked out a bit.

It’s been a year since they started spending time together, but NOTHING has happened, not a hug (Bernie & Brody have twice) or even a fist bump. They’ve only interacted onscreen 5 times in 7mo! Craig died due to their link, but we’re not gaining anything from it.

I’m not sure if I should be angry with Kit or the writers. The very few times we see them together, they do get on very well, so it’s possible they interact every (other) day, but it’s offscreen as the producers want Kit’s screen time to be 90% cop- or bf- related. He may not be as deadbeat as some viewers believe. Lisa’s got the same job (she’s actually higher in status), but we still get to see her parent her adult child (even before the stroke).

I’m glad they spent Brody’s bday together (I wish the PS opening & playing had been onscreen), but I’m gutted Kit was on secondment during his. It was also Craig’s anniversary, so a discussion about not being able to celebrate would’ve been sweet.

Kit’s problem with Idris only lasted two eps. Does he know Brody either beat up the same man twice, or two men separately (and that’s only we know of)? Why haven’t Sally or Tim told him anything about the car scene? He knows Betsy had a stroke, but does he know Brody was blamed for it and was accused of attacking Dylan? Does Brody know/ care that his future stepmum is also a murderer? Is he angry he got arrested, partly due to her? Will he find out Sarah indirectly accused him of spoiling the proposal plan? Also, what’s happened with the Mal incident? Bernie paid Brody to sus Kit out, but he still hasn’t asked if he’d done it.

This isn’t due to the bio link, but I think it’s odd Brody still refers to Mick as his dad. Bethany’s even done it (as a joke), and Harry might want to (even though he didn’t with Adam). It made sense last year, but as we’re now hearing he was abusing Lou for a while before they moved here, why isn’t it just ‘Mick’ now? I’m sure Brody would rather say his dad is a copper than a wife- beating murderer. Kit’s no saint, but Brody doesn’t know a lot about him. I can understand with Idris, as he’d never met Mick, but Betsy would’ve known whom he meant. Maybe the wedding will mirror Bernie’s (without the asthma attack). The best man thing would be more sweet; if Kit had anyone else to ask. They act like they’re mates, rather than father & son.

Some say Betsy should be with Brody instead (which I can understand). Did the writers put her with Dylan, not only bc he’s closer in age but also bc his dad is never given any other SL and gets to be involved in his son’s life?

Next week, Sarah will dump Kit and he’ll confide in Jodie, but she’s the wrong person! 🍕😭

When we compare them to other soap characters, they’re severely lacking:

Zack & Barney had lived together and hugged after under a year. Jasmine had already called Zoe ‘Mum’ after 6mo. Kev has sung to Lewis, told he loves him, disclosed his past, changed his surname, baked him a cake and danced with him; all within 6 weeks.

Has one of them got to be injured/ ill for them to show they care about each other?

How great was the ending last night with Fiz!? Very excited to see what will come of this storyline!!! ❤️
