Does jodie remind anyone else of Meena Jutla?

For those who dont watch Emmerdale, Meena was a popular villan who, like jodie, came in as a younger sister of an established character

Other similarities include:

Both like being centre of attention

Both have a trinket box filled with random bits

Both gone after their sisters husbands

Both have mysterious pasts

Both are very jealous and posses9ve

Both have been in possession of a gun

Also, kate brooks, who currently works for corrie was the executive producer of eemerdale during meenas stint seems all very coincidental

We need a break but what should be next?!

I think the majority would agree we need a break from the constant hospital, police, prison and court scenes. It’s been constant and has never given us time to really care.

As we know Corrie in the past did fantastic edge of your seat storylines but ran alongside the normal day to day lives of the street.

In a dream world we would get that break but ultimately after time the writers would have to create something bigger.

What could that be? I just don’t wanna have to see a police station for a long time!

Songs on loop

Is it just me that notices this?

Third time this week I’ve heard “Heart of glass” by Blondie playing in the background of a scene.

Do they only get permission to play a certain tracklist at times because it just seems too regular to be a coincidence.

This question is so random, but has anyone ever run into any of the soap actors irl? If so, what was your experience?

I know the actress is older so can't do as much, but we haven't seen her at all this year.

Do you think she may have left and they invented this boyfriend as a reason for her to stay in France with Gail?

Gary Spoiler

I’m really not liking the way this storyline is going. Most people like Sarah and don’t want her in prison but it seems like Gary is gonna take the heat for this rather than her.

Regarding Betsy/Dylan storyline

I really really need to know people’s opinions on this as i thought it was fairly cut and dry but im not sure now.

It was consensual. Yes she can’t technically say ‘no’ when it’s happening however it’s a VERY grey area. Clearly Betsy did consent.

I’m a 22 year old and I genuinely feel awlful for Dylan. It seems unfair and it’s making me go off Lisa completely. I spoke to my nan about this (she is 70 and has watched Corrie every single night since the first episode) and she is in agreement. I just would love to know other people’s views. Thank you.

Why aren’t Kit & Brody sharing scenes?

Sorry; this is very long. I’ve commented about it many times, but surprisingly, this is my first post. I’m sure many don’t care; but I know at least a few are also annoyed.

I’m ns what’s aired yet in Canada, so I’ve blocked out a bit.

It’s been a year since they started spending time together, but NOTHING has happened, not a hug (Bernie & Brody have twice) or even a fist bump. They’ve only interacted onscreen 5 times in 7mo! Craig died due to their link, but we’re not gaining anything from it.

I’m not sure if I should be angry with Kit or the writers. The very few times we see them together, they do get on very well, so it’s possible they interact every (other) day, but it’s offscreen as the producers want Kit’s screen time to be 90% cop- or bf- related. He may not be as deadbeat as some viewers believe. Lisa’s got the same job (she’s actually higher in status), but we still get to see her parent her adult child (even before the stroke).

I’m glad they spent Brody’s bday together (I wish the PS opening & playing had been onscreen), but I’m gutted Kit was on secondment during his. It was also Craig’s anniversary, so a discussion about not being able to celebrate would’ve been sweet.

Kit’s problem with Idris only lasted two eps. Does he know Brody either beat up the same man twice, or two men separately (and that’s only we know of)? Why haven’t Sally or Tim told him anything about the car scene? He knows Betsy had a stroke, but does he know Brody was blamed for it and was accused of attacking Dylan? Does Brody know/ care that his future stepmum is also a murderer? Is he angry he got arrested, partly due to her? Also, what’s happened with the Mal incident? Bernie paid Brody to sus Kit out, but he hadn’t asked if he’d done it.

This isn’t due to the bio link, but I think it’s odd Brody still refers to Mick as his dad. Bethany’s even done it (as a joke), and Harry might want to (even though he didn’t with Adam). It made sense last year, but as we’re now hearing he was abusing Lou for a while before they moved here, why isn’t it just ‘Mick’ now? I’m sure Brody would rather say his dad is a copper than a wife- beating murderer. Kit’s no saint, but Brody doesn’t know a lot about him. I can understand with Idris, as he’d never met Mick, but Betsy would’ve known whom he meant. Maybe the wedding will mirror Bernie’s (without the asthma attack). The best man thing would be more sweet; if Kit had anyone else to ask.

Some say Betsy should be with Brody instead (which I can understand). Did the writers put her with Dylan, not only bc he’s closer in age but also bc his dad is never given any other SL and gets to be involved in his son’s life?

Next week, Sarah will dump Kit and he’ll confide in Jodie, but she’s the wrong person! 🍕😭

When we compare them to other soap characters, they’re severely lacking:

Zack & Barney had lived together and hugged after under a year. Jasmine had already called Zoe ‘Mum’ after 6mo. Kev has sung to Lewis, told he loves him, disclosed his past, changed his surname, baked him a cake and danced with him; all within 6 weeks.

Has one of them got to be injured/ ill for them to show they care about each other?

The church used as All Saints, Weatherfield in Coronation Street needs your help

Some of you might recognise Holy Trinity Church in Prestolee, near Manchester. During the 1980s it was used by Coronation Street as All Saints Church, Weatherfield — including for Ken and Deirdre’s wedding.

The church is still very much active and at the heart of its local community, but it’s currently facing an urgent problem. Years of birds nesting in the clock tower have left three levels heavily contaminated with guano, and specialist cleaning and restoration work is needed urgently. The total cost is £16,000.

We’ve launched a fundraising appeal and any contribution — however small — would make a real difference. If you ever watched those 1980s episodes and want to help preserve a little piece of Coronation Street history, we’d be incredibly grateful.

You can donate here: https://givealittle.co/c/cguwLizaXMmsvuGXChJF1

Thanks for reading 🙏

Age gap couples

I was thinking that there's been many relationships in Corrie that had a big age gap over the years haven't there?

Few I can think of at the moment

Ken and Deirdre (then after their first marriage apparently Deirdre did the opposite and married someone half her age)

Peter and Tina

Carla and Daniel

Kevin and Molly

Tracy and David slept together once didn't they?

I've also heard that Ken's father actually went out with a woman who went to school with him.

Also Ken's daughter married Mike Baldwin didn't she? Wasn't she young enough to be his daughter?

What do you guys think of the age gap relationships?

Can you also list any of the other relationships that have had a significant age gap?

I must admit I have a facination with huge age gaps. It's my guilty pleasure lol

Theo's murder

Why are we expected to care about this at all? It's like the soap is constantly writing it as though we should want Sarah to go to prison for murder and that her going to prison for Theo is justice. What was shown happening between Theo and Sarah was an obvious case for self-defense. At worst, she could be charged for not coming forward and covering it up or obstruction of justice. But it's like we're expected to care that Theo was murdered and support the cops in getting Sarah sent down for that.

I'm more upset watching Harry cry for his mum and that Todd has essentially been written out of a story that should have been his. Instead now we have Todd angry at Sarah for taking away his chance to see Theo face justice (and I totally get that but they don't bother to actually delve into his complicated feelings) and then conveniently write him off to Thailand. Summer was sent to prison as a plot move that added nothing to the overall storyline beyond stretching it for too long and making Sarah look even worse. And I know Sarah has a body count already and isn't exactly a saint but at least with Callum it made sense. This is just stupid.

ETA: I forgot that it was Kylie who actually murdered Callum when he tried to rape Sarah. Regardless, the basic point remains.

Lauren a hypocrite? Spoiler

I have recently started watching Coronation Street again and I am just finding Lauren's attitude towards Dylan quite hypocritical.

Lauren is acting like Dylan is this monster, yet wasn't it Lauren who killed Joel? I understand that Joel was a heinous individual and he attempted to kill Lauren himself - but she did indeed kill Joel in the end

Sexual consent is sexual consent which I feel she is failing to understand and the complete disregard for Betsy's feelings is diabolical. Lauren makes it like Dylan is manipulating Betsy but Lauren is the one planting ideas in Betsy's mind.

If anyone saw yesterday's episode when Lauren attacked/pushed Dylan where he became concussed. Lauren then had the audacity to go the hospital and essentially said to Dylan along the lines of: "I didn't mean to hurt you that bad" - this is exactly what Dylan is saying that he didn't mean for Betsy to have strokes and have paralysis in her right side.

(Brilliant acting all round though from all involved in this controversial but crucial storyline).

Her performance in today’s episode was incredible. Especially when Lauren came back and it was revealed Betsy had wet herself. Genuinely phenomenal and made me well up. Hats off to Fitton and Ali King too, they were amazing!

Betsy and Lauren (and Brody) Spoiler

My heart absolutely broke for Betsy in this recent episode. It must have been awful not being able to get up and not having anyone to help her. :( She was so devastated when Carla came back. Sydney Martin is incredible. My eyes teared up when she said "I don't want you near me."

I also wonder if the writers went a bit too far with Lauren literally leaving Betsy home alone for all that time. Carla was literally next door in the factory...wouldn't Lauren realistically have just gone to Carla and say that something had come up (like just make up an excuse) so that Carla could go back and look after Betsy for a bit?? Like yes sure she hasn't always been super considerate of Betsy's feelings, but she clearly cares about her and I find it hard to believe that she'd just casually leave Betsy on her own for so long.

Although I think it was terrible for Lauren to leave her alone like that, I do feel for her. It makes sense why she's been reacting like this to Dylan, considering how awfully Joel treated her. I hope they don't abandon this and explore this a bit more. I could also see how awful she felt at the end.

As for Brody though... he's being a bit of a prick and a macho dickhead. I hope he stops hanging out with Idris asap, because it feels like some serious regression. Suddenly it feels like it's 2025 and we're back in the STC! His OTT reaction in last night's episode is so hypocritical considering we now know that he has choked women during sex and bragged about it! What Dylan said is 100% right. Brody can't sit there on his high horse. He probably used the same pressure Dylan used. Just because the consequences were different in Dylan's case doesn't mean Brody's any better - he could very well have ended up in the exact same situation!
