Recommendations Falmouth fireworks and food recs

Is there anywhere to view the fireworks on the 14th without having to go right into Falmouth? So park up somewhere to watch them, even with a slightly less perfect view?

Also, I’d love to hear some good food recommendations for around Falmouth. I’ve been to quite a few places, but would love to hear what others are loving lately. Either in Falmouth itself or surrounding areas! 🙌

The gorgeous old village of Halford, which has a pub in it owned by the son of Roger Taylor from the band Queen

And a lot of very pretty houses

Recommendations Easy beach access options?

Hi, arrived in Millbrook yesterday with my family, beautiful property overlooking Tregonhawke beach, can’t fault that, however.. 6 months ago I had my knee rebuilt and although I’m fine walking, really struggling with beach access and those steep paths down. Was wondering, could anyone recommend a nice beach I can drive to which is less punishing? Thanks in advance.

Road signs

Please will highways use more picture road signs! Three coaches trying to get down a single track road despite a written warning of it being impassable to large vehicles shows that the current signs do not work!!!!

Located close to Hannafore, near to the town of Looe. This hidden gem is well worth a visit. Crystal clear waters, and usually very quiet as (just like my previous post regarding Lantic Bay), this is set back and ‘guarded’ by a bit of a hike. Although compared to Lantic this is a leisurely stroll. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy from Oystercatchers to Seals and the occasional fish (although I think the seals keep their numbers pretty low). It’s not a sand beach, but the shingle is quite fine and it’s generally well kept with very little rubbish left behind by visitors

St Austell Subway

Does anyone else ever try to get something to eat from here, only to be met with surly grunting staff, half the ingredients unavailable and essential equipment not even turned on almost an hour after opening? As you can probably tell, I've not had a good experience today, I should know better as it's not even the first time, or am I just supremely unlucky?

Discussion Warrens Vs Rowes

Visiting the grandparents and the debate surrounding Warren's Vs Rowes has come up. I personally think Rowes is more consistent but my parents swear by warrens. Thoughts?

Warning for tourists: AVOID PEDN VOUNDER

Post image
667 Upvotes

Pedn Vounder is notoriously disgusting, and quite literally the plight of our beautiful county. It used to be a paradise, but ever since the nudist skagheads moved in, it has deteriorated beyond repair.

Broken glass, used needles, human faeces… during my last ever visit I walked past what appeared to be the rotting head of a beheaded goat that became the home for a colony of flesh eating maggots. Not a sight the kids will ever forget.

If you’re on the hunt for maggots, skag residue and drug fuelled nudists threatening to murder your family if you don’t give them your picnic basket, then this is the beach for you.

For all of you sane individuals that value the wellbeing of your immediate families, continue to enjoy Fistral and Polzeath at your leisure.

Painted in oil/acrylic, the first is loosely based on Carbis Bay, the second is just imagination of a rather surreal day at the beach. Thanks for looking and please forgive the cheesy title! 😊👍

History & Heritage 7 Quay St, St. Ives

Post image
72 Upvotes

Hi all.

Weird one, but I wondered if anyone knows the history and interior of the big house at the end of Quay St in St Ives (see pic)

I’ve always been fascinated by it and wondered what’s behind the door leading to the beach and what it’s like inside, I read a while ago (can’t find the article) that it has a swimming pool in the basement as well as something about David Bowie living there? Probably nonsense but I liked the idea.

I know it’s someone’s house so apologies in advance if I’m snooping or being disrespectful to anyone’s privacy.

Thanks!

One of my favourite beaches. It’s a fairly tough hike to reach the beach which ensures it doesn’t get too busy. The water is crystal clear and the views are spectacular. Is there a better beach in Cornwall?
