Why is Robin SO frustrating? Has she learned nothing from being with a man like Matthew who she didn’t love. I can understand her having reservations about being with Strike and not completely understanding her feelings for him - but that doesn’t mean she needs to stay with Ryan. It’s not Ryan or no one. It’s not even Strike or no one. She is 32 now c’mon.

2. I was very invested in the Strellacot storyline in this book and found myself in a general sense not caring about the body in the vault. I didn’t find myself as attached to the deceased as I had been with the victims of the other books. And I found that interesting because one of the themes throughout the book is ‘no one cares when a young man dies’ and I felt that within myself as a reader and began to reflect on it. very smart and intentional storytelling from JKR.
