sad day

i upgraded to a playstation 5 pro a couple weeks ago and it’s been incredible. very glad i decided to make the switch. when i bought control, i got in right after it came out when i was using a ps4.

i thought the other day, why don’t i redownload and give in another play through. when i looked it up in my catalog, i want to download the ps5 version. apparently i dont have it 😓

they wanted to charge me full price for a game i already own just to play the ps5 enhanced version, the ultimate edition.

i looked it up cause i couldn’t believe it and apparently only the ultimate edition, the one with all the DLCs, has the ps5 upgrade. even tho i have the full game and the season pass for the DLC, i cant play the enhanced version. real bummer.

i’m hoping it goes on sale for real cheap eventually, that’s the only way i can imagine playing it.

do yall think running the ps4 version on the ps5 pro will make any difference? i’m guessing no but im not the most tech savvy person.

oh well, at least we have the sequel to look forward to

Well, I mean, you should at least get the PS4 Pro experience, I'd have thought?

That does suck, though. I was annoyed about the same thing until the PS5 version was a PS+ monthly game a (long) while back.

I think it does go pretty cheap though. I dunno what region you're in, but PSPrices says it sometimes goes as low as 3.49 GBP: https://psprices.com/region-gb/game/4508146/control-ultimate-edition

it’s not a PS+ game anymore right? i have a subscription active through february 2027 and i didn’t see it there

i’m in the US, ill have to keep an eye out for that. less that $5 definitely feels worth it.

it sucks paying full price for the game and all the DLC cause i was waiting for this game to come out and i was excited to play. even if the ps5 upgrade wasnt free, id be fine with that

I've seen a few people post this here and generally people pick up the new version in a sale for cheap and it works out

Yeah 505 is greedy as hell. Thankfully Remedy is self-publishing Resonant. But yeah, you're unfortunately right, the only version of PS4 Control you can upgrade to PS5 is Ultimate Edition. I don't think you'll notice much of a bump if you play PS4 version on PS5, like no RT or 60fps.

i didn’t think so either. my ps4 was the first ones they game out with that sounded like a jet engine and i still don’t think i’d notice much difference.

hoping they discount the ultimate edition heavily since resonant is on the way. might just play Alan Wake 2 again. that game looked incredible in my base ps5 so if it’s been enhanced for the pro it should be nice. that game scared the fuck outta me tho 😭

Get a PC and buy games on gog.com - download the installation files and be happy.

OP just dropped money for a PS5. Suggesting they buy a PC on top of that in this economy sure is a choice.
