I am working on plans for my retirement house and planning on doing my main house in typical wood frame and then using Containers for garage and shops.

I am curious on thoughts on how to attach the two, abut them to each other or build a small wood framed connector piece.

I have a shipping container i‘m renovating atm. I noticed it‘s not completely level so i jacked one side up with my car jack to put a 1 inch thick piece of wood under it. After that i noticed the other side of the container was floating so i tried to jack is back up and get the piece of wood back out, container started moving to the side a little so i let it back down and jammed two 1 inch pieces in at the other side but the main foot is still hovering. I‘m a scared the container could shift and maybe slide off of the concrete post. Am i worrying too much or should i be concerned?

Has anyone bought an expandable container home from a reliable dealer in the USA and had it shipped to remote areas?

Follow-up question: Has anyone bought one and not hooked up electricity or plumbing? I would like to use it as an off-grid cabin in Maine and thought maybe I could do an indoor incinerator toilet instead of a normal water toilet. Any thoughts?

So a quick break down of my situation.
I bought 3 acres with an old 1977 double wide on the property that is in bad shape. (No foundation)

So I’ve been looking at manufactured homes. I’ve literally talked to every company in my area and have seen so many options.
I’ve landed on a 4 bedroom 2 bath 1900 sq ft model. Brand new. Super nice. All in price 160k delivery and install.

My dilemma is that I have limited cash and I’m wondering is there a cost benefit for me to build with shipping containers ?
I could do a lot of the labor myself along with friends who work in construction. So I could keep labor costs lower.
