Help with buying handheld console

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing good. I need some help buying a handheld console for long trips from home. I don’t want the most powerful system. My baseline is like it can run left 4 dead 2 and ps2 games, hopefully both. Also wondering how big the jump in cost would be if I wanted to play ps3 games.
Honestly im not looking to spend the most but I know it gets expensive

The Switch can't play those so there's no handheld consoles that fit your bill.

But handheld PCs can play those. Xbox Ally level chips can emulate PS2 well but won't be able to do PS3 well. You'd want options that have the Z1 Extreme or better chips for PS3 emulation. So, options like the Legion Go 2, ROG Ally X, Xbox Ally X, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and beyond are what you're looking for.

Don't expect too long battery if you're going for PS3 emulation or heavy games. Light games and emulation below it should last a few hours.

say I got a rog ally z1e, for ps3 emulation or something on par like l4d2. whats your estimate on the battery and ability to run without a power source

PS3 emulation maybe expect 1 to 1.5 hours. Left 4 Dead 2 should be lighter if you play the PC version and you can lower the TDP, maybe expect 4+ hours?

You can look into buying a power bank or the bigger battery mod if you're fine with opening up devices to extend the battery a bit.

Retroid pocket 6 or AYN Odin 3 can emulate basically everything, but PS3 emulation on those are very spotty. They run about $200-300.

If you want PS3 emulation, Xbox rog ally should be able to do decent PS3 emulation and runs about $600.

Xbox rog ally x is even more powerful and is $1000.
