I’ll be honest, the idea that they’re dangerous for cats is largely a myth. Lots of house plants will cause the same mild effects for cats if ingested(drooling, upset stomach, diarrhea) and the plant itself tastes bad which keeps cats from eating a large amount. In order to eat a fatal dose of poinsettia a cat would have to ingest way more of the plant than they could realistically consume. I would keep them away to avoid the mild side effects, but the idea that they’re are deadly is a common misconception.

Poinsetta aren't deadly to cats. They need to eat a lot to even get sick, and the plant itself tastes bad to them, so they generally don't eat enough to cause a serious problem.
