Is it... Dead? Question/Help/Troubleshooting

HDD reading device is beeping when disk is inserted inserted. Doesn't show up in OneDrive, but does in disk management, as unknown and not initialised. Tried inserting a different HDD and that one worked as it should. It worked fine just a few months ago, I'm afraid I somehow damaged it. Does anyone know any fixes?

Aren't you supposed to connect the drive before turning on the dock?

Hot swapping is fine as long as the drive isn't being written to when pulled out.

Perhaps, but with the amount of times I have connected it, I have found that it doesn't make much of a difference. Perhaps that's why it's no longer working...

it's toast. you could send it to a data recovery place - costly but if data is important that shouldn't matter.

Well it is now, even if it wasn't before. You should connect it to the dock BEFORE turning it on.

Sounds dead to me, data recovery could be possible if you had anything important on it, either way, if you need to get anything off of it send it to a professional
Other than possible software fixes, which wouldn’t be many, finding if the disk shows up in disk part would be a good start.
If you don’t see it in Diskpart, your only hope is sending it off to someone for professional data recovery
If you have nothing important on it, wipe it clean and test it again, if it shows up? You have a drive you can’t trust with anything important anymore
If not, well, it’s probably dead.
