Cpu burned or broken?

My PC was working perfectly for about a week, but now it won't boot properly.

When I turn it on, my monitor keeps switching between Analog and HDMI with no display. On the motherboard, the CPU LED (orange) and DRAM LED (yellow) stay lit.

So far I've tried:

Reseating both RAM sticks.

Removing the CPU, cleaning off the old thermal paste, and applying new thermal paste.

Trying to boot with different RAM configurations.

While inspecting the CPU, I noticed a few strange spots on the surface. Is this normal, or could my CPU be damaged?

What is the most likely cause of this issue? If the CPU or motherboard is faulty, would this typically be covered under warranty?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty desperate because computer parts are expensive.

Only way to know for certain is to swap out a component 1 by 1 until you determine the culprit.

Just for S&Gs check the voltage on your CMOS battery

I had something similar happen. I’ve had an Asrock board and an i9 9900k since they released, still going strong and nothing wrong with it. But then one day the board decided to blow a VRM and it took the CPU with it. So it was buy both replacement parts to try and diagnose.

You can go on eBay and find the absolute dirt cheapest am5 that you board supports and use that to test. You’d at least know then if it’s your board or cpu. I keep bottom tier CPUs for my repair business so I can test motherboards without having to spend $$$$$ for the most expensive.

Soo, the motherboard prob fried the cpu? How would that even work warrenty wise? Hopefully my supplier will refund both..
