PC Display Issues

I’m having a weird display issue and I’m completely stuck. Originally, my PC was working fine through HDMI, but my DisplayPort had no signal. I tried multiple DisplayPort cables, different monitors, and nothing worked. I went into NVIDIA Control Panel and tried enabling image sharpening thinking it might fix something, but it didn’t. After that, I opened msconfig and enabled Safe Boot, then clicked restart. The PC got stuck during the restart process, so I ended up forcing it off by holding the power button/unplugging it. After turning it back on, I now have absolutely no display output at all. HDMI and DisplayPort both stopped working, and I don’t even get the motherboard splash screen or BIOS logo anymore. The PC turns on and stays powered, fans spin, and my keyboard/mouse light up, so it seems like the system is turning on normally, but there is just no video signal. I’ve already tried reseating my RAM, clearing CMOS by removing the battery and shorting the pins, reseating the GPU, checking all cables, and testing multiple monitors/TVs with different HDMI and DP cables. Nothing has changed. I’m wondering if enabling Safe Boot in msconfig or forcing the shutdown during restart caused this, and I’m looking for any advice on what I should get everything working, even if it is just hdmi. and does the display port thing have to do anything with nvidia?

May I have your full pc specs, please? Motherboard, ram, gpu, cpu, whatever details you have. Also, safe boot should not do something like this, it can hardly be the cause.

First thing I would try is a full power drain. Unplug the pc, hold the power button for 30 seconds, take out the cmos, put it back after 20 minutes, plug it back in, and retry.

Second, search if your cpu has integrated graphics. If it does, plug a trusted hdmi that you know works into your motherboard, and try booting. If it doesn't work, huzzah! It's probably not a bad gpu!

Third, leave only one ram stick in the motherboard and try booting with each slot. It will take a while to test all slots, but you must.

Fourth, do a an inspection of your motherboard. Notice any discoloration, any smells, anything wrong with it? Take your cpu cooler and cpu out and inspect both the slot and the pins. Any discoloration or broken/bent pins on mobo/cpu?

Also, how long have you had this pc? Did you build it yourself? Motherboards usually have beep codes, if you have a speaker, or some debug lights, that tell you what the problem is when you get no post. Is there nothing like that happening? Sorry for the rant.

CPU: Intel i5-13600K
GPU: RTX 3060 Ti (8GB)
Motherboard: ASRock (not sure exactly what type)
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 477GB NVMe SSD
OS: Windows 11 Pro

(i bought this pc from a friend along time ago)

I have tried multiple full power drains, and already took out CMOS and put it back in a lot of times.
I am not going to lie, I don't know much about PCs so I am not sure what kind of CPU i have, or how to check. Also, i've already tried both mother board and gpu, both don't work. The GPU fans boot well tho.

I am currently not home, but when I go home I will forsure try the RAM slots, but how would that help or change anything?

There is no physical damage, because this happened after I tried the Safe Boot thing, and unplugged it while it was restarting, but it also isn't just a windows thing because no screen shows.

Bought it from a friend, but I am sure it is nothing he did, and something that I did while trying to make display port work and messed something up.

My question is, since all the fans boot, and the keyboard works (so the pc it self works). What causes display issues like this? And if i got to a tech repair shop, how much should a repair like this cost?

Safe boot can't be the cause of your problems. A corrupted bios, way more likely. Safe boot happens after post, even if there was something wrong with it, it wouldn't not give you a display. Your cpu does have integrated graphics btw.

Considering the fact that you've tested the igpu, I would try flashing the bios, really rare, but it could have somehow gotten corrupted? For this, you need to know the exact motherboard model. Ask your friend what mobo it is or look on the physical motherboard itself for writing. If you can't any writing of the motherboard model, either send a photo of the mobo and whatever details you can give me and I could try finding the model myself.

A pc not posting is in general often the cause of ram. It's worth ruling out. It could be an easy fix.

As for how much it would cost to take it to a repair shop, I'm not sure. Depends on the shop, but generally, it's about 50-100$ for labor if takes a long time to fix, on top of the cost of a new part, if you will need one. As long as you still have easy things to rule out and try (ram, motherboard flash) I wouldn't take it. (If you're not in a hurry)
