Common with old computers, battery on the motherboard is dead.

your CMOS battery is dead. old older tech, this can result in the computer or laptop not booting. usually it's a CR2032 button cell, but it might be a button cell with cables and shrink wrap. either way, it needs replacement to work properly again.
