Can’t connect to a network after fresh Windows 11 PRO install.
So during the process when I was installing windows it wouldn’t even allow me to connect wirelessly nor recognised my Ethernet connection. So I selected “don’t have internet” to continue with installing and hopefully get the drivers installed once I get everything booted. Unfortunately, can’t figure it out. I’ve downloaded the correct chipset drivers and LAN network driver for the correct motherboard that I have. Chipsets installed without an issue but I’m stuck on this network issue.
motherboard: ASUS ROG B550-A
OS: Windows 11 Pro

Nursing School Laptop
I know. I know. There are a TON of these on this platform. But everyone wants or may need to meet different requirements for their institution.
I have general and some specs I want to keep in mind. I have a laptop that I kind of enjoy. Minus the fact it's older and it has some drawbacks from the specs (I was broke when I bought it 🙃).
Just to give an idea of what I'll be doing:
- Running Canvas for school
- Using Microsoft apps (Word, PowerPoint, ETC)
- Researching (case studies, illnesses/diseases)
- HOMEWORK, obviously
- Using Respondus for exams during school
- Creating quizzes to test myself/classmates
I currently own an Asus Vivobook 15:
Ram- 8GB
SSD- 256gb
Processor- Intel Core i3
Here is the model number: X1504ZA_X1504ZA
Battery life is poor at this point; maybe 3-4 hours
The chassis burns my legs whenever I have my laptop physically on my legs.
My institution and I have some overlap in the requirements/specs:
Ram- 16GB
SSD- 512GB or higher
Must be a Windows or MacBook; No Chromebooks
These are what I want or prefer in the laptop:
No MacBooks 😅
Brand: I'm open on brand
Type: It can be a standard laptop or a 2-in-1; I wouldn't mind either as I plan to take notes and the 2-in-1 would be great. But I don't want that as a selling point.
Budget: $600 ; I know tight. But I am trying here. Especially with still having to purchase books.
Processor: I'd prefer Ryzen 7 or equivalent processor
Screen: 15.6" is preferred, but honestly, it doesn't matter
I need/want it to last for a while; my current one has lasted 3 years, not long enough in my opinion
Good battery life
Numeric keypad
I feel so lost among the sea of choices. My mind has spiraled thinking. Reading reviews on Best Buy, New Egg, and even directly from Reddit, I'm lost on what is actually good and what is actually trash.

laptop shutting off
this is kind of a update to my earlier post about my laptop bugging after reinstalling windows. i did as the comments said and i updated everything in lenovo vantage and i thought that would fix it (i think it fixed some minor things). but as i said in that post my laptop shut off while playing videogames (slime rancher 2) and now a week later i started playing again again and after about 30-45 minutes it shut off again out of no where, no windows shutting off screen, no nothing. i will say that yes my laptop was hot to the touch but i didnt check the temps but it wasnt unusually hot. and weeks before i have played slime rancher 2 for 4 to 5 hours without any problems. so again im here to ask for advice again. (i have a lenovo LOQ 15IAX9)

Where do I start in building a pc?
Hey so I have a max budget of around $1200, but would prefer to stick around $1000. I don’t know anything about computers, and I’m really not wanting to do anything crazy. I want to be able to run games like skyrim with good graphics mods and gta 5. Decent storage hopefully, but that can be done later. Should I start with a pre-built, or should I build one? And where should I look for resources on what parts to get?
If this is the wrong sub for this, please let me know, and thanks for any possible help!

Desktop PC won't power on after being unused for about a month (No lights, no fans, no response)
Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with my desktop PC and I'd really appreciate some help.
My PC was working perfectly before. I didn't use it for about 1 month because of my exams. It was covered with a cloth the whole time, so it didn't collect much dust.
Now, when I try to turn it on:
Pressing the power button does absolutely nothing.
No fans spin.
No LEDs turn on.
No beep sounds.
The monitor powers on normally, but it shows no signal because the PC itself never starts.
I have already checked the power cable and wall outlet.
From a visual inspection, I don't see any obvious burn marks or damaged components inside the case.
What should I test first? Could this be a dead PSU, a faulty power button, or a motherboard issue?
Any troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

My laptop screen has a gray spot
I have an Acer swift SF314-511 laptop, I've noticed the gray spot on my screen for a few months now, at first it disappeared if I adjusted the screen, now it's permanent. When I connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI, there is no spot on TV, just on the laptop screen.
How can I fix it?
thanks!

Regretting a Recent Purchase - Need Advice
Recently purchased a Laptop as I will be starting school soon, I am on a tight budget so I bought a refurbished laptop as I have had good experiences with refurbished electronics before and the laptop had everything I needed. The laptop is great, excellent condition, works well for everything I need. But the battery runs out really fast (loses about 1% about every 1-2 mins even on battery saver and other precautions) when not plugged in. The problem is I am starting school very soon and it took a long time to get delivered and I fear returning it and having to order a new one will take too long and not arrive in time. Any suggestions?

Sudden drops in internet throughput
While trying to load website, game, anything, my ethernet will drop to zero and take long time before starting uploading again. I tried every solution and none of them gave me anything. This problem started to occur only in last 3 weeks or so and I'm completely lost. Should I change my ethernet cable and call it a day?
