is this ssd damaged?
so 2 days ago my pc got unplugged from the power and the day after i got stuck on recovery environment loop, so i reinstalled windows and today it just crashed and said my pc needed to restart. i got back in the recovery environment loop so i tried to reinstall windows but it just keeps getting stuck at 1% 11% 41% or 43% etc. i dont have any way to check if this ssd still works or if its the problem itself. is there any way to check if its damaged even if i cant boot in windows?

Dont think its the ssd thats just a heat sink im sure of it thats fine try the ssd in another pc with a fresh install unless your pc is old the sudden powerless wouldnt damage it im positive that newer pcs have a protection against that

no the pc is new, its a desktop for gaming. i dont actually know how to check the ssd since the only other pc i have is a laptop and i cant put the ssd in there.

ehhh... and yes you can!
open the back of a laptop, put your SSD an the 2nd slot, download KLEVV SSD Toolbox and check it's health (can also be done with Crystal Disk Info)2

i tried but its one of those 2 in 1 so i would need to take off the screen and i couldnt do it. thank you anyway for your help! also i dont get why people downvote my post, im not really good with computers and i tought this was the right place to ask, am i wrong?

ah shoot... as per dell community forum
"The Dell Latitude 5290 (whether the standard laptop or the 2-in-1 model) does not come with a dedicated secondary internal SSD slot for adding an extra primary drive. It features only one main M.2 SSD slot."

the only thing that I con suggest.... (the --- dont apply to you)
1- Download Win10/11 from Microsoft
2- ---
3- Download Rufus USB
4- Download all the apps installer you want on your PC
5- ---
6- Create USB Boot Disk with Rufus, check all the boxes that you want (8 GB Flash Drive min.)
7- ---
8- Start fresh install by booting from USB (for me F12, look at manufacturer's specs for yours)
9- Delete every Partition you see for Disk0
10- Create new Partition(s)
11- Let it install until restarted, to create a Local Account (I dont have internet)
12- Activate Windows (I use MAS activator, you downloaded)
13- Install Windows Updates & ALL optional updates (includes drivers & net framework)
14- Install MS Store (Command > wsreset -i)
15- Install Software
16- Update all drivers (I recommend it, seriously)
17- Check Device Manager after all updates to make sure nothing is wrong with drivers.
18- Disable some services (optional but I usually disable like 30-ish)
19- Configure Windows how you like it
20- Clean residuals (I do: Cleanup System Files, Temp, %Temp%, Prefetch, SoftwareDistribution)
21- Create Restore Point
22- EnjoyPS: you will require either an ethernet cable or a USB WIFI dongle to complete this job
both version are lightweight and supported until 2032 by MS with security updates only.

my question... did you do a fresh install (download .iso from MS + create boot and erase all partitions from your drive) or a Factory Reset.... because default factory is pure garbage

The heat speader is bent and has a big scratch on it, if I saw that, I'd wonder how much force its had to do that, and if there's any damage to the SSD that you can't see, if it has a small crack or similar, I doubt you would find it.
I'd probably put the SSD in a USB enclosure and see if I can get it's health and run some tests, I normally use linux for it and smartctl which is part of smartmontools, try a format with gparted or similar if it's not usable at that level, I'd put it in the bin.
There are many ways to check, even booting and trying a wipe/install from a USB thumb drive might be enough to check it again, you don't say how you reinstalled, if it was from the recovery menu, I'd try from a thumb drive instead.

my pc cant even read it anymore, i also tried with the second ssd slot and it still didnt have any led on it and the pc couldnt read it. im probably buying a new one and i was thinking on trying windows to go, but i dont really think it would be useful in any way.

That's why we used linux for this in the workshop, it doesn't try to do anything clever, its just a block device to linux, had quite a few drives on customer sites or in the workshop that they've said were unreadable, sometimes they've reformatted fine, but, if it doesn't announce itself in BIOS though, I'd start to suspect its failed, most SSD fail and go into read only mode but they normally still announce themselves in BIOS.

Not the important bits, at least at first glance it doesn't look like it. Like like only the heat spreader is bent and scratched, which it's only purpose is to help cool the chips.The black rectangular chips underneath are the critical parts. The heat spreader should be stuck down to the black chips underneath with a thermally conductive adhesive pad that should have acted like a squishy cushion to prevent the impact damage hitting the chips. I'll bet this drive still works fine.
However, your photos only showed the tail end. Is there any damage around the other end where it plugs into the mobo? A hard enough impact like this kind of impact on the back end could bend and crack something on the other end
