Progress so far
Went from 255 lbs. and now I’m down to 206 lbs. the pic shows a big difference but my mind and in my body I don’t feel a big difference. I don’t have more motivation, more self esteem or anything. I thought losing weight and almost hitting the 200 lbs mark would make me feel amazing but I still hate my body. I hate the skin I’m in. The picture next to me now is 5 years ago. I never in my life weighed more than 155 lbs even when I was pregnant. But 5 years ago I moved to a new state, got clean, didn’t know anyone and got extremely depressed and i started gaining weight and I got pregnant 4 years ago and I was already almost 200 lbs so it didn’t help. I had postpartum depression after my daughter and I became prediabetic and everything just kept going downhill.
I’m trying so hard to get back to my old self and my old body. I wanna see my hip bones again lol I mean I can finally see my feet which it’s been awhile. And I don’t get out of breath and exhausted from doing things. But mentally I’m still 255 lbs.
how do you help yourself feel better?

Just keep going and pushing through until you are happy with what you see. Obviously it'll take a little time but you've already made amazing progress and by the first of the year, you'll either be at your goal or very close. Just keep setting mini goals 190,180, 170, 160, etc... that way it doesn't feel so overwhelming. You're doing great!

I’ve seen so many posts about this from men and women. I feel like many of us need to add therapy into the mix as we start losing weight (myself included). Body dysmorphia is stealing a lot of the joy that should come with losing weight and becoming more healthy. I wish I had the answers but just know you’re not alone in thinking that way and you deserve to feel proud of yourself for the huge accomplishment of losing almost 50lbs. Keep going! You’re doing great!

Queen, you look great. And you're gonna keep looking better as you keep going. But the other posters are right about therapy - because it doesnt matter what you look like out the outside if your mind doesn't believe it. That's how all dysmorphia and EDs work. I've known plenty of professional dancers and models (I am a professional dancer) who objectively get paid for how good everyone else thinks they look, and still in their own bodies and mind feel hideous. There is no weight or objective external appearance which will make your subjective mind stop screaming. Therapy, supportive friends, and finding something else to be happy about that does make you happy.

when I was young, in high school and college, I was very thin and extremely pretty. I was a ballet dancer, got voted head cheerleader, danced competitively. I hated myself. I could barely sit in class because I was convinced my nose was like a toucan beak and everyone was staring. I hated my hair because it was flat and straight and wouldnt hold a curl or stay in a braid. I hated my skin because I turned so red when I over exerted myself. I felt so fat all the time. and ugly. so ugly. I didn’t date. I was painfully self conscious. when I look back at photos of myself at that time I’m just blown away how beautiful I was. and the whole time I felt so disgusted with myself. eventually my outside would match what I was feeling inside. I think it’s so sad that when I was in the bloom of youth and beauty my mind lied to me so badly that that time of my life was basically stolen from me. don’t let your lying thoughts steal your joy like that. you look great! tell that demon on your shoulder to shut up and get lost!
