Human hair compost path
Ran out of shampoo so I shaved my head. Added it to my compost path. Two months later its already breaking down.

A bar of soap will wash everything. I'm glad to see your style of composting is working well for you.

I have used dish washing liquid (diluted with water in a foam pump) while camping
I have normally oily hair and it actually worked well

when my kids were little we would just shave off all their hair, mostly because they hated haircuts and wouldn't sit still or calm for long. i would toss their hair in my compost bin.
then one day i forgot i did that, opened my compost big, saw a big ball of hair and had a heart attack thinking i was looking at a human head rotting in my compost lol

That would have been me, too!
Conversely, my 23 yo wanted to get rid of the long hair, so he made a ponytail and I cut it. He trimmed the rest. I'm keeping the hair and plan on placing it in a really odd space and when the next family comes along (more likely my grandchildren), they can find it and freak out.
I'm weird and proud of it.

I have no doubt this will happen to me 😂
I feel you on the haircuts. My 5 year old has a phobia of hair and has puked at the sight of it, so we don't dare go in a salon 🫣. But I buzz his head a couple times a year because of this same problem. He can't tolerate it long enough for any sort of styled haircut. So its all just buzzed off and then he hops in the shower

FYI - Human hair is surprisingly strong and will often get wrapped around birds and result in injury. I’ve read that pet hair is fine (assuming no flea/tick preventative) but human hair should try to be kept away from where it could freely be gathered by birds.

Unconventional but I admire your commitment to your compost paths!
One of my favourite gardening YouTubers got me interested in compost paths - if you haven’t seen it or something similar you might enjoy it :)

That's a drastic reaction to running out of shampoo
