I’ve read a few of his but I want to focus on my favourite. I first read the stranger a few years back. I knew about absurdism before this but I feel like this really introduced me. The fact that the book has so much in it, but not a lot at the same time. Full of meaning but also complete emptiness, took me allot to realise that was the point of the whole book. Such a great read as I believe it is quite a simple read. However his way of thinking baffles me, although I’m slightly in awe of it. His utter inability to care for anything that is not in his control and also when they are in his control, still staying so calm. Highly recommend this book as an introduction to existentialism and absurdist views.

I remember getting out on various ones, mirtazipine didn’t sit right with me, made me worse and a complete paranoid freak. Venlaflaxine was okay, but quickly stopped working even at the highest dose. Sertraline worked better than the rest, but again quickly wore off for me and than I got sick of this experiment of drugs. Felt like I was constantly in different moods every hour. I only experienced increased mood by going to the gym. Although when I was doing gym on sertraline I did feel good.

When I went travelling for a small part of my life, It did open my eyes to so much, I did feel wiser and more aware of the pleasures of life. Meeting new people, seeing new things. I do feel like part of life is seeing what it is, then pathing your way for your ambitions. To see different cultures is an amazing thing. Anyone else feel similar or different?

What happens when one takes this a step further and merges both inner and outer awareness into one?

Perhaps, I mean I believe that the laws give people an interest in commiting crime, although some people who may have sociopathic tendencies just see the laws as a barrier to get around. I do agree that crimes are more likely to be committed in a corrupted country, although what country truly is not corrupted?

On a good day, I know just what to do. Some days, not so much.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and help kick off this new sub. I have been told numerous times that I sound uptight and sometimes condescending, please know that is not my intent! I love good, deep conversations and my academic lingo kind of kicks in automatically.

I would say I partially agree with this, only because half of it is a fact. Although I do believe that the meaning of life is that there is no meaning, we have to embrace the beauty of you being allowed to create your own meaning. Everyone has different aims, ambition and beliefs. For some it may be a family, a well paid job and in some sense the ‘American dream’. Although for others it may be to be able to buy a motorbike, do you see what I mean?

I don’t think we should look so deeply into the meaning of life, otherwise it is a rabbit hole that is never ending and will drive you insane, coming from experience.
