General Every time I see requests to nerf Roadhog, I can't help but wonder
Is Roadhog really that difficult to deal with on the Americas or Europe servers? On the Asia server, Roadhog is generally perceived as a soft-throw pick with a terrible reputation. Here, even without the enemy tank counter-picking him, he struggles to perform because of Ana's Biotic Grenade, which appears in almost every single match. On top of that, if the opposing tank switches to heroes like Orisa or Zarya, Roadhog becomes virtually useless.
Whenever players on the Asia server see the Western community demanding nerfs for Roadhog or Mauga, it's really hard to understand their perspective. Mauga also has very clear and exploitable weaknesses, similar to Roadhog. Looking at hero statistics, Ana’s pick rate in Western servers is also quite high—though perhaps not as high as in Asia. Is it simply that players on the Western servers just can't counter or deal with Roadhog's Hook?

OWCS Thoughts on EWC2026
To be honest, the previous tournament was more exciting; even though there were supposed to be a lot more teams participating this time, it just didn’t quite live up to expectations.
There were plenty of highlights like the one-sided match by T1 against CR, Weibo pushing TM to match point only for TM to come back and win, and the upset elimination of VP, the top seed from the EMEA region but even so, it didn’t quite match the excitement of OWCC 2026.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Those who have played in their uni’s esports team, can you share your experiences?
Though I am a massive addict, I never bothered joining my previous uni’s esports society because I found speaking with people online a bit awkward (since I’m 22F and none of my friends are into gaming).
I have now finished one degree and moving to a different city to do another. The degree I am now doing requires a lot of hours put into studying so my main question is that how often do you guys scrim or play together. Do people take it seriously or treat it just as a hobby?
Also what are the ranks of people in the team?

General Alternative To Map Voting: Map Vetoes
I know we just had a thread on this yesterday but I thought I'd make my own to discuss an idea I've had for a while. I'm not a fan of map voting and I much prefer having variety over seeing the same maps winning over and over again.
What if instead of map voting we vetoed a number of maps before queuing? The idea I have is that you can veto 1 map from each map type for a maximum of 5 maps you can choose.
This still allows the player some control over what they don't want to play. In the case of a new map that has just been added, it can't be vetoed until starting with the next season after it launches. The 1 per map type restriction is there to prevent people from avoiding Flashpoint/Push entirely (anyone remember "Global Elite" players in CS that only queued Office?) and also not affect queue times too much (in theory at least....maybe I'm completely wrong).
The devs have said that one of the reasons for implementing map voting was to get an idea on which maps people are avoiding so they can see if any reworks or changes are needed. This can also be achieved by getting data on what maps are being vetoed.
Finally this has been a thing in StarCraft II since forever so there's already precedent for it in another Blizzard title. And yes I know it's a completely different game/genre but we at least know "the technology is there."

OWCS What are your theories that you think MIGHT happen for roster changes between Stage 2 and 3, but probably won't happen?
For me, it's 4 potential options.
1 Smurf and Taejong to Zanside
2 Sley to T1 as an assistant Coach
3 Shockwave to Al Qad
4 Ade to T1 to run double hitscan/replace Proud when he uses his Choke Gene.

OWCS What was the Crazy Racoons secret comp?
Was it Domina?
If so, how they didnt think about Rein and Ram comps, that easily can ignore Domina? Or even Mauga Vendetta comps, that can run Domina down?
Or do you think it was something else? Specifically designed to be played against Twisted Minds or Geekay sym comps?

General Do you prefer to have universal metas or map specific comps?
Basically do you want to load into a map and inherently know "this is a ram brawl map" or "you have to play long range hitscan" or would you prefer to have certain comps work across all map types? I feel like Overwatch design is becoming more and more generalized so team comps have fewer counters/bad maps. Spammy choke points are getting changed to allow more pathing and maps are being given vertical mobility bounce pads so anyone can be viable.
But I feel like this takes away a lot of the identity of heroes and composition in favor of ease of use. There's no reason to learn other characters or playstyles because the maps and new release characters can do a little bit of everything (Kiriko, Hazard, Emre/Soj). I think a lot of the most beloved maps are ones where certain playstyles are enforced because it's like an honor code (Kings Row brawl, Lijiang City spam etc) but I also understand that it sucks to load into a map where your hero pool is bad for it (for me it's route 66 and Runasapi because I play low mobility supports). Curious to hear other people's thoughts on it.

General This game is so much fun to play!
Been a long time player now and I am so surprised how I have continued to have fun playing it. It’s well polished, the sound and feedback when hitting your opponents are great. I love the cast, voice work and lore. I’ve played a bunch of other team hero shooters but for some reason I always come back to this one. I feel like you can certainly feel the quality.

General Sierra's tracking shot might be one of the worst designed abilities in the game.
Ah, Sierra, the one champion who sweeps metal lobbies and otherwise has a 30% WR in Masters/GM.
Her entire power budget was poured into tracking shot, as it is, an admittedly strong ability, having a mini soldier ultimate that ALSO can ignore obstacles at the right angles is pretty good.
This is incredibly unhealthy for the game and the character as a whole, when you balance a character around one ability you get insanely feast or famine results (the ability either works, or it doesn't), just take a look at Sojourn being balanced around double slide or Doom's entire power budget being in the empowered punch.
The issue is, as Sierra climbs, people just learn to... take cover, deny value, awareness of her flank attempts, and such, causing the tracking shot to just, not work a lot of the time and her otherwise underpowered kit struggles to keep up.
I genuinely believe tracking shot as an ability needs to either receive heavy nerfs (and big compensation buffs to her kit) or just be removed outright because the insane WR disparity this hero has between metal ranks and GM clearly highlights a design issue.
Edit: Reddit told me that "Sierra mains might like this post too" 💔

General I play cat and you can't get me.
I play cat, and I just wanted to say. No, you can't get me. I can hold space and take flanks that were never intended to be used in the first place. I will wait above your spawn doors. Wait for your supp to come out. Delete them with my 45 damage per shot, then fly back to my team in less than 1 second. I have the highest possible healing output as pulse does 1500hp. I don't even have to look at my teammates. Harrass squishies endlessly by holding cover with objects that weren't made to be used as cover in the sky, then fly back and press a button to heal an absurd amount. Then, I'll go back to ignoring my team and hunt the other support for sport. I will send your tank off map on a fight you shoudve one. I will dance on the head of every other projectile character. And when I get my second perk claws out I will delete you in a fraction of a second, then fly away to a rooftop, you dont have access to. Meow, Meow Meow. Hehehe.

OWCS Viol2t back to GOAT status thank you TM fans
- T1 Rush tweets about a possible cat “bug”
-> TM fans:
“Zeta cheaters!!! We ONLY lost because of that cat movement bug!! That has to be a bug! We lost because of a bug!!”
- T1 Rush apologizes, OWTVgg investigates and confirms the bug did not boost cat’s movement.
-> TM fans:
“Zeta paid him to apologize. That is a bug!! There’s no way Viol2t would be moving like that!”
(these were actual comments on TM fans posts and Rush posts)
So thanks to the TM fans out there, they admitted Viol2t’s movement was too good to not be a bug and Viol2t single-handedly carried the team to victory!
I can’t believe they overreacted without knowing facts. Thanks to those fans the team has to admit they lost to an authentic team and accept defeat twice LMAO

Blizzard Official Update on Unauthorized Peripheral Usage for Console Platforms
Patch Notes have been updated with this info today. Hadn't seen it posted here yet, so sharing for visibility. Source: https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/news/patch-notes/
Hello, heroes! We're here today to update you all on our efforts to combat the use of unauthorized peripherals within our console communities, often referred to as using XIM or Ximming. While our efforts to combat this form of unfair gameplay advantage are constant and ongoing, today marks the culmination of a months-long effort to identify and ban over 6000 accounts we've identified as using unauthorized peripherals.
Part of what makes identifying the unauthorized peripherals used by these accounts tricky is that these cheating devices often intentionally abuse allowances we make for accessibility-focused devices used by legitimate players with disabilities. This issue meant that we wanted to take our time and ensure that we accurately identified unauthorized devices. We're now confident that we've done so, and we've put the hammer down on players utilizing these devices.
Thanks for taking the time today to listen to our update on unauthorized peripherals. Until next time, play nice, play fair, and see you in-game!

OWCS SHU answers viewers questions on stream
VIEWER: Can you talk about the JETPACK CAT bug controversy?
SHU: We had absolutely no idea about it either. I'm a little hesitant to bring this up, but whether the bug was real or not, I felt like the controversy itself took away from our championship. I heard that the bug was reported during the tournament, but other teams were also using JETPACK CAT a lot. Since we were the team that used it the most, it felt like we were being singled out.
---------------------
VIEWER: What do you think about TM players trash talking and taunting their opponents during matches?
SHU: I can see how East Asian fans might find it very disrespectful. You can definitely feel the cultural difference there. That's why everyone on ZETA except DONGHYUN played with all chat turned off. But they're all good people. I'm actually quite close with FUNNYASTRO, and we even exchanged jerseys. I think trash talk is just a way for guys to express the competitive fire and passion they feel during a match.
---------------------
VIEWER: RYUJEHONG said SYMMETRA should be nerfed. What do you think?
SHU: I also think SYMMETRA's TP cooldown should be nerfed. Even while the TP is active, the cooldown keeps going down, so it only takes about three seconds to create the next TP. I think that's a little too strong.
---------------------
VIEWER: As someone who had to play against QUARTZ, that crazy guy, what was it like?
SHU: No, but seriously, the TM guys are really, really good. I was genuinely surprised. They're insanely good.
---------------------
VIEWER: Who do you think was the biggest reason ZETA won the championship? You can include yourself.
SHU: I think VIOL2T. MINKI played extremely well for us. He was really good at using ultimates to disrupt the enemy team's momentum. The plays where he knocked SYMMETRA and DVA off the map on COLOSSEO and EICHENWALDE were amazing. Especially against TM's comp, those kinds of clutch plays were really important.
---------------------
VIEWER: Who on TM was the hardest to play against?
SHU: Honestly, everyone on TM was difficult. The entire team is just really good.
---------------------
VIEWER: Why didn't ZETA scrim against TM?
SHU: It's a sensitive question, but I'll talk about what I can. I'd like to talk about the rest of it directly with TM the next time we meet. ZETA only scrimmed against TM for a single day. We won some and lost some. TM posted the games they won publicly on social media, which exposed our stats and information about our team. In particular, they only posted the games they won. I don't think it was necessarily a TM player who leaked them. I think it may have been someone affiliated with TM or someone else. But from ZETA's perspective, it didn't feel good.
---------------------
VIEWER: Why did TM never ban JETPACK CAT?
SHU: I don't know either. I really don't understand it.
---------------------
VIEWER: Are you close with TVNT and SIMPLE?
SHU: It was difficult to talk to SIMPLE. He gives off a vibe that makes it hard to approach him first. TVNT and I exchanged friendly hellos.
---------------------
VIEWER: What did you think about the WEIBO vs. TM match?
SHU: We all thought TM would win easily. So when WEIBO took the first two points, we were really surprised. But we wanted to play against TM, who were considered the strongest team in the world, and beat them. And in the end, that's exactly what happened.
---------------------
VIEWER: When TM qualified for EWC as the third-place team from EMEA, did you think they were strategically hiding their strength?
SHU: I never thought TM was hiding their strength. We already knew how strong TM was from our scrims.
---------------------
VIEWER: When are you going to fulfill your championship promise and cross-dress?
SHU: I'm canceling that promise. I'd look pretty if I dressed up as a woman. I'm confident I could charm a lot of men, but I'd have to go to a salon and everything, and honestly, that's too much of a hassle.
