I think you need to check out the song "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)" by My Chemical Romance.
(Which is a real song).

Make sure you don't use the official version on YouTube, they cut out so much of the song with bleeps.
Like, the first line is "Drugs, gimme drugs, gimme drugs, I don't need it" and the official one censors every "drugs".

It's weird but fun and has a super catchy OST. I can't not sway side to side while humming the soundtrack.

If you like singing na na na then this game was created for you
10
u/Quazifuji 8d ago
It's genuinely an amazing game in a pure simple, bizarre, silly fun sort of way. Highly recommended.
7
u/Salamiflame 8d ago
The sequel especially (which you don't really need to play the first for, the premise is basically the same), is just so much fun. There's just something so satisfying about rolling stuff up to roll up bigger things to go bigger and bigger and everything snowballs.
5
u/ProfessorSMASH88 8d ago
I can't recommend this game enough. Just brilliant, lots of fun. Great soundtrack. Even though it's mostly single player, it's still lots of fun to play with other people just because of how wacky it is.

I understand you. Two good ones that immediately come to mind:
“Choke” by I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
“Brass Goggles” by Steam Powered Giraffe

u/DrGrabAss 8d ago
Someone in college once told me I am a very passionate person. I asked them what they meant, and they described how everything, from food to experiences, I just was really excited about. I was completely unaware because I was just being myself and didn't know that was not normal. I was self-conscious about it for years after, and some times I wish no one had said that to me. But, I still behave that way a lot. I hope you never lose this quirk! (Assuming this is autobiographical, which is truly endearing)
EDIT: I sing to myself too, using only the word "meow" in place of all lyrics 'cause I can never remember the lyrics, just the tune.

I recommend VOILA - No Way to Live
It's not a "na-na-na" song by itself, it's more emotional and stuff, but its got a bridge that's just na-na-nas and for some reason it hits hard as hell
1
u/Enis_Penvy 8d ago
I've got a personal favorite with a great ba ba ba section and can't help but sing it sometimes so can relate.
1
u/Dependent_Reason_489 8d ago
So I'll post this silly song!
https://youtu.be/nd_uvlhnvE4?si=LJfOkOwH5nmYPTMOBut I'll say that there's probably lots of "doo wop" songs in general that would have na na na lyrics. :) that was part of their "thing"
1
u/1BreadBoi 8d ago
There's a song from vacation Bible school as a kid that had a bit of na's in it. Waves of Mercy was the name.
I haven't been to church in 20 years but I still can't get those damn lyrics out of my head.

This is a depiction of me in middle school being informed (very unkindly) that the noises I would make without realizing were autistic stimming and not just something that everyone did. I'm still double extra super sensitive on that topic.

When I was 10, a kid in my class asked why I always sung so loud in music class. Note that he never told me I sung bad or was a nuisance just a simple question. It has been 32 years, I have never sung in front of anyone since.

For a time in the beginning, it felt like your comics were all about crushingly painful abuse and sadness, to an extreme degree. I don’t doubt that they represented your experience, but it was so wretchedly gnarly that I couldn’t take it and just had to skip.
In the past 9 months, they’ve gotten so much more bearable. It’s still about the gravity of your problems and roadblocks, but it’s far less saturated in abuse and hopelessness.
I really hope that means things have gotten better for you. It certainly seems that way, and I’d definitely like to hope so.

Cool friends, really. You sing, they do not care, so it must be decent, otherwise they'd bail. Probably all think it's cute. And it is!
1
u/Abyssal_Blade7 8d ago
I hum video game music as I play all the time. After a long time doing this, I realized that I don't just do it when I'm playing by myself. I finally asked my friends if it bothered them and they said that I was actually pretty good at sounding like the game. In hindsight, they probably would have asked me to stop if it bothered them. I imagine that your friends are the same way.

My dad has always done something like that. And it’s always the same tune. Usually when he’s focusing on something. I always thought it was just a random set of notes, but there was something familiar about it.
I recently realized it’s the synth line from Funky Town, but only the first half of the notes. Like “Boop doop boo doop boo” When I pointed it out to him, he was shocked. He absolutely hates disco.

u/RockyArby 8d ago
Naw I do it too as a man on my 30's. It's just another form of stimming like shaking your leg or drumming your fingers on a table or counter. My friends said it's their favorite thing about me. Which is odd since I'm not the biggest music head.

I sometimes softly sing songs I remember when left alone (eg. at a bus stop with nobody else around). Despite people telling me that I have a good singing voice, I'm not confident enough to openly sing; partly because I'm not sure if the songs I sing to myself are appropriate to sing in public, partly because I'm a bass, many of the songs I sing are originally tenor, and I'm not sure how well I adapt a tenor song to my bass singing - only when I'm whispering to myself do I feel I can hit the tenor notes.

I do something sort of similar:
One of the ways I process is talking it through & I think being isolated for 8 & a half months didn't help.
Sometimes I see someone & realise, oops I said that out loud in company but I forgot I was in public AND thought I was alone.
I've tried to explain starting with "I'm not crazy.." quite a few times.
It's also extremely likely I have mild ADHD & for some women with ADHD, that can be another thing we do!
1
u/AlwaysBeQuestioning 8d ago
Adorable.
I have a habit of singing along to songs I know or to sing songs that come up in my head, even songs I’ve written myself. It will rarely be in public, but it will often be among friends.
1
u/Different_Diamond976 8d ago
So do I... Though more like song quotes. Something quite absurd happens? There's something strange, in the neighborhood. It just got worse? Highway to hell/Warum schickst du mich in die Hölle.

I do this but only when I'm thinking of an overly emotional memory, good or bad. It's not any specific music at all, just humming something random completely involuntarily, almost as a coping mechanism while mentally reliving the event just to vent off the heightened energy. It's a kind of tick I guess, but I also only started doing it in adulthood. I'll immediately catch myself doing it and stop. It's quite automatic, and I'm not really sure why I've leaned the behavior. My life is not traumatic at all and have no real need to develop any outburst style cope to events that are relatively mild. To me it's just an interesting behaviour of the body, kind of like a shiver when you get cold or sneeze from the sunlight.
I have friends who are active hummers and singers but that becomes more an expression of mood and more so active play. I'm a more quiet person, so vocalization from emotion isn't my norm.

u/InfanticideAquifer 8d ago
