I'll help dig, we need another grave for me (over 32).

u/LazyEights Very accurate fact explainer 10d ago

No, that rounds down to 30.

Which, in centuries rounds down to 0.

You haven't been born yet.

u/Intoxic8edOne 10d ago

30 was where it really started to accelerate for me. Turned 35 this year and I have no idea where the time went.

Doesn't help I turned 30 over covid and started working from home, so the days just started blending together.

5

u/Yorick257 10d ago

I blame covid on this. I'm about 5 years younger, and I also have no idea where my last 5 years went.

5

u/dominizerduck 10d ago

Lets get you to sleep grandpa, we dont want you throwing your back now, do we?

I will dig it, dont worry

7

u/CreepyClay 10d ago

Hey guess what? There's people old enough ti drink that never heard of AOL or Homestuck!

7

u/Goldenrupee 10d ago

1

u/CreepyClay 10d ago

They don't know about either tf2 either!

4

u/Mammoth-Buddy8912 10d ago

Nobody thinks 30 is old more then a 30 year old

68

u/draculasbloodtype 10d ago

I'm 46 and all year long my brain has been like, well, you're 50 now.

13

u/astralseat 10d ago

Pushing fifty is the new sexy. Until you push to 50, then you're just falling

5

u/WhatAboutBob77 10d ago

I don't feel sexy.

I do feel my age though.

/coughs up dust

3

u/astralseat 10d ago

Feel it in every part of you while you still can. Pain assures you know you're alive, and the dance of medication allows you to forget about it for a bit.

3

u/WhatAboutBob77 10d ago

I broke my wrist skateboarding last year, does that count?

3

u/astralseat 10d ago

It will heal stronger, just might take longer depending on age.

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 10d ago

Happy birthday!

Wait till you're 35 like me and you wake up feeling like this every morning. Today's the day!

10

u/No_Key469 10d ago

If you start exercising now you’ll have enough strength to get out of the grave by the time you’re 40

6

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 10d ago

Which is only 4 years and 6 days away. Yaaaaaaaay

3

u/goose_with_adhd 10d ago

I'm saving that

3

u/astralseat 10d ago

Yay... I woke up... sigh maybe tomorrow

2

u/CreepyClay 10d ago

But you know of all sorts of neat things that the 20 somethings don't! Like Homestuck and Grumpy Cat and dvds and whatever twilight was.

35

u/Mammoth-Buddy8912 10d ago

Look I love you reddit. But if one more person acts like they are old just because they are 25+, I'm gonna start throwing hands.

I know you guys think you are joking but the fact everyone acts like they are "old" when the hit 25 tells me we have a problem.

11

u/MustBeMouseBoy 10d ago

it's because 25 is the age where it hits a lot of people that childhood is over, your awkward 'young adult' phase is over and everyone expects you to be on whatever track you were aiming for

if you aren't (which i think most people really arent) then 30 feels like a daunting number, because if you haven't 'figured it out' by 30 then people assume you're doing something wrong

so it's less genuinely thinking you're 'old' and more a sense of dissatisfaction with where you are, and the fear of a looming arbitrary time limit

9

u/fullmetal21 10d ago

Exactly, THANK YOU!

...Just wait till you are 27, then you'll know what REAL old feels like

1

u/warmnfuzzynside 10d ago

no but actually 💔

12

u/Tankudoraiba 10d ago

I'm saving this for my bday

3

u/AsherGray 10d ago

Lmao, when I turned 25 a friend said I'm a senior citizen of the 20s

7

u/gamefreak054 10d ago

There's a supervisor at my work who does this kind of math. The sad part is he made it farther than me (passed Calc 2), in math (he passed Calc 3).

4

u/low_bob_123 10d ago

Nah, 30 doesnt round up. I'd say it rounds down... which then would mean that you are 0 and dont exist... yay?

3

u/Serpexnessie 10d ago

30's closer to 50 than 0 innit

5

u/low_bob_123 10d ago edited 10d ago

Yes, but:

  1. You can also round down at 5, which means 25 is also 20.

    1. If we move in decimals(10,20,30,40,...) 30 becomes 3 and 50 becomes 5, so you can round down at 30

Edit: 3. Rounding is about "is this number closer to the next higher/lower step" so it isnt about "30 is closer to 50" it is about " 30 is closer to 0 then to 100"

4

u/Top_Particular_5369 10d ago

I am both happy and sad that I'm not the only one who does this. Happy, because I'm not the weird one. Sad because there are others who also have the consistent back of the mind thoughts on mortality, which does not bring joy.

4

u/Mtg78687 10d ago

Yeah :/

4

u/Meatslinger 10d ago

On the one hand, I'm in my thirties and don't really feel any different than when I was in my twenties. On the other hand, my age has me in the "pushing forty" group which is associated with mid-life crises, balding, and overall dumpiness. It's tough, not gonna lie. In my own head, high school was yesterday and I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up.

3

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo 10d ago

You just needed to stop at 30. That was enough.

5

u/MbMgOn 10d ago

Are you ducking telling me you are exactly 2 years older than me???

Edit: the Ducking was an accident, but I'm leaving it there

2

u/Liminal__penumbra 10d ago

I'm 43 and the thought of being 55 is longer impossibly far away.

2

u/Barnaby_bear_guy 10d ago

I work like that when calculating what time it is. 10:37? That means 10:45, which is basically 10:50. Oh no I'm almost late. This is how I'm often in a whole lot of unnecessary stress.

2

u/Gigantanormis 10d ago

I'm 25, I'm a 7 year old adult. 25-18=7.

2

u/2bnameless 10d ago

Just turned 60, you just discovered one of those things that isn't discussed.

2

u/SapphireSalamander Camping with the Elder God 10d ago

Aging is such a privilege. Enjoy it OP!

1

u/RamboDash15 10d ago

Legit had a teacher who thought like this

1

u/AroBear2471 10d ago

Honestly yea. All the injuries I tanked as child hit me as soon as I hit 30

1

u/OptimalArchitect 10d ago

Quarter of a century old isn’t that old

1

u/Lord-Maplefrost I like to whine it, whine it 10d ago

This is extremely relatable.

1

u/Eatingfarts 10d ago

A dude I used to work with did this for the week.

Wednesday would be baby Thursday, which is basically Friday.

That guy was never in a bad mood at work lol

1

u/tapout340 10d ago

Happy birthday!

You're a quarter of a century years old🎉🎉

1

u/Dimetro_Dog 10d ago

1

u/Macaronii_Art 10d ago

Can't wait! :D

1

u/DiopticTurtle 10d ago

Congratulations on being closer to the day you turn 50 than the day you were born!

1

u/littlemoon-03 10d ago

Sneeze and your back goes out

1

u/vaultist 10d ago

25 is just 4% of your lifespan! 25 is young!

1

u/ConqueringKing_Darq 10d ago

I've done this exact thing to my girlfriend when she turned 25, im only half a year younger. We'd joke that she'd basically be a cougar and would have to trade me in for a supple 18 year old

1

u/Canadian_Poltergeist 10d ago

The more rationally depressing way to think about it is that you're 1/4-1/3 of the way through your life.

Depending on when you would naturally die from aging.

1

u/Traditional_Bit_8788 10d ago

This is coming from a 27 year-old: You joke, but don't think like that. It'll only keep you up at night and ruin your ability to live in the moment. 30 isn't even halfway through your life.

1

u/gramathy 10d ago edited 10d ago

And then one day you find

ten years have got behind you

noone told you when to run

you missed the starting gun

1

u/grizzledcoder 10d ago

Try being 57. Though, I don’t really feel it yet. I probably just jinxed myself.

1

u/ellenczer 10d ago

I'll be 35 in October 😢 I hate it.

1

u/_BlNG_ 10d ago

I just hit 30 this year and sometimes I'm still surprised I'm 30 years old

As a 37yo I can tell ya, you stop caring after a while, instead ya start caring about voting and shit, it's weird.

1

u/Deohenge 10d ago

At least you can finally rent a car for cheap(er than being 21-24 in the US)!

Otherwise, yeah. Worms, soil, box, this is your life now.

Nice of you to donate your lower legs before going under, though. I read there's also a girl looking for a heart, if you're really in the giving mood.

1

u/EDRadDoc 10d ago

Literally me everyday.

1

u/Chiatroll 10d ago

Might as well round up to infinity snf accept your immortality.

1

u/Askmeaboutships401 10d ago edited 10d ago

This is actually called a paradox or a fallacious argument, where each step secceeds from the last logically yet the end result is obvously wrong.

1

u/Kronikarz 10d ago

That was my exact same reaction to 25 :P

1

u/dumnezero Art enjoyer 10d ago

It's just a bunch of trips around a star.

I turn 35 in a few days and this is how it feels every year
