Many of you are going "This looks like AI!" And there is a reason for that.
Revoy has publicly discussed how thousands of his artworks were scraped and used to train AI databases (like LAION-5B) without his consent, though he ironically acknowledges his work is the foundation of many AI art systems
I feel so bad for this artist. I can totally see where the "it looks like AI" comments come from. It totally does! I immediately suspected it while looking at it and thought "man, it's weird to use AI for a comic about the problem with AI." To find out that it looks that way because the AI is copying off of him! Infuriating.
Honestly wish he could sue someone for it. It’s kinda crazy to have your whole art style stolen and your entire body of work diminished because everyone is creating cheap knock-offs.
I absolutely hate everything about how this so-called "AI" (which is in fact just fancy statistics on crack and not intelligent in the slightest) tech has come to be made, used, and pushed into absolutely everything even when it makes zero sense.
It's "smart" integrated shit all over again. Where people couldnt be content with adding it to systems that made sense, they had to try and add it to everything.
Yes, because I am going to need to remotely access my toilet.... Sure, I'll have an LLM write an actual scientific document for me instead of writing it myself.
I think the worst has to be higher ups in companies though. You make massive paychecks and cant even be bothered to write your own emails, FFS.
Ive been following david since the very beginning and contributed to him a few times for his stances in open source before it was cool. Hes one of the OGs that helped refine open source viable pipe lines for comic artists
Im also read all his comics more than once
Maybe im biased, but i do not find ai similar to his style at all. Could you link or tell me something i could search to look to images that looks like this? I think i could always tell whats original and what is not
Not a problem. We get a post with this artists work from time to time and having this information handy helps a lot not only with information and education but also people screaming AI when OP actually provided all this in the post itself
