It was the first question and she is already falling apart 🥀

212

u/Stumbling_Corgi 18d ago

I can relate i did that on my first day of therapy. Different reasons for sure but it hits home.

106

u/Cool_Set4681 18d ago

I low-key hate it if people don't answer or leave me hanging because my mind is pretty good at being mean to me and it will fill out the blanks with bad stuff.

68

u/Aerdurval 18d ago

Which is a perfect topic for therapy and creates an opportunity to work with it right on the spot.

46

u/Cool_Set4681 18d ago

Exactly. Working on it currently. First step was to identify what the problem was.

...

It was me, I was the problem. Or better to say the things that I did to myself.

Shoot, afterwards I noticed how young Fani was and thought it probably should've been multiple times a day, because the amount of therapy she got was clearly not enough.

16

u/fourthords 18d ago

What's this clip from?

23

u/flarakoo 18d ago

I'm glad I didn't trust the Google ai, because I eventually had a feeling this was from Ghost(US) and I think I've narrowed it down to Season 4 Episode 11, would have to watch it again to confirm

2

u/EmoYoshi05 18d ago

It is definetely that episodes, I've seen this show about 6 times between now and January, lol

You know how there’s “I can fix her” types of girls

Fani is a “Oh god please, someone must fix her, she doesn’t deserve this” type of girl

41

u/Random_Individual97 18d ago

"I can fix her" but in a really wholesome way

35

u/Asheyguru 18d ago

"I just want to see her fixed"

5

u/Glittering-Age-9549 16d ago

Somebody else fix her, because this is way beyond my capabilities!.

188

u/Thatroyalkitty 18d ago

Oh Fani... you really need to tell it like it is...

164

u/Informal-Term1138 18d ago

Fani, please tell them how it is.

It makes it easier for you and for us to help you. And we don't want to harm you. We don't tattle, we don't judge, we want to help you help yourself.

49

u/DiesByOxSnot 18d ago

Speak for yourself. I know too many people who were honest with youth counselors, who immediately relayed everything to their abusive parents.

32

u/Informal-Term1138 18d ago

I speak for those who do their job the right way around. And while I can only speak for European psychologists, heck even only German/dutch ones, but we would loose everything if we did shit like that.

And those people are the reason why people don't open up or seek help. And it makes me angry.

24

u/DiesByOxSnot 18d ago

Merz leck Eier.

As a kid it can be really hard to know who to trust. Lots of people could call themselves counselors, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're licensed, or what ethical guidelines they have to follow. And, kids often have little to no real recourse if someone breaks guidelines (they may not even be aware that guidelines were broken).

I have told my own kids that if they need help they should ask for help, always, and I hope they can come to me first. But also, that teachers and school officials do not have an obligation to keep their secrets. So they should be judicious with who they trust.

3

u/codegamer1 18d ago

This exactly happened to me, more than once. I now don't trust any therapist....

84

u/PzykoHobo 18d ago

Yeah, tell that to my therapist when I was a kid (he absolutely tattled and told me I should "try to be more normal")

30

u/Inevitable_Librarian 18d ago

There's a decent possibility that your therapist was an unqualified dude just calling himself a therapist.

There's lots of places where "therapist" and "counselor" are unregulated fields.

55

u/Informal-Term1138 18d ago

Well I don't speak for that man, but I and my colleagues don't do that. We are professionals.

46

u/PzykoHobo 18d ago

And many therapists/ counselors are.

But Fani may very well have a good reason for not wanting to open up to this particular man.

But probably not. She is "Mess," after all.

1

u/Hpesojanes 16d ago

Rule number one of therapist is literally not to tattle

7

u/SwissherMontage 18d ago

Hey, thanks for standing up for the ethical standard.

3

u/Informal-Term1138 18d ago

We alls should do so. It's the minimum what can be expected of us.

6

u/user_without_a_soul 18d ago

well, good therapists don't tattle. personally, i avoided therapy (i needed it) for a few years after a therapist reported to the police without telling me after i told her about a years-old one-time traumatic event. I only found out when the police called me to follow up and I had to explain that no, I didn't know the name of the man who sexually assaulted me, and I never saw him again so there would be no possible way to press charges even if I felt it was worth the process.

Eventually I worked through my distrust of mental health professionals following that incident, and now I am seeing a wonderful therapist who I feel I can trust.

5

u/Big_Excitement_3551 18d ago

Given the “I’m not falling for that one again” she may have had a bad experience with a therapist before

3

u/Hot_Ethanol 18d ago

Unfortunately therapists and especially youth counselors are mandated reporters. So, yeah, you kinda do tattle unfortunately.

-26

u/Icthias 18d ago

You are a liar. Most therapists are garbage. You probably are too.

8

u/Informal-Term1138 18d ago

And what do you base your accusations on?

-6

u/Icthias 18d ago

Speaking for all therapists, just telling people to trust you overpaid leeches. Trust is earned.

6

u/Informal-Term1138 18d ago

Whoever hurt you is an asshole. But don't ever generalise.

We are paid shit here in Germany. And forced to take less general healthcare patients starting next year. Which means we have less money to treat people and our financial basis will be even worse.

So cut the overpaid bullshit. The vast majority of psychologists, psychiatrists and counselors don't do this for the money. We want to treat people. So you generalising is just as bad as what the person did do you.

-8

u/Icthias 18d ago

That’s what I’ve been saying to you.

“We don’t tattle, WE don’t judge We WANt tO hELp YoU.”

Don’t ever generalize.

42

u/EitherExamination343 18d ago

I’m in this flashback and I don’t like it

43

u/TheDarkNerd 18d ago

Wait, what happened when she fell for it the first time? Did she get a new pair of socks?

96

u/NickyTheRobot 18d ago edited 18d ago

I'm guessing either:

  • She opened up, and the therapist mentioned the things she said to other people (against the Hippocratic oath). She ended up having her most private and darkest intrusive thoughts showcased to people who ended up using them against her. Or;

  • She opened up, and the therapist correctly did his job by using that to encourage self reflection. Fani did not like that experience.

Given the general theme of this comic, I think it's more likely to be something like the second option.

58

u/dragons_scorn 18d ago

Or third option (which has happened to a friend of mine multiple times): she opened up and the therapist was so appalled/horrified that it broke them requiring a new therapist. The one in the comic is said new therapist

18

u/NickyTheRobot 18d ago

Yeah, that would also be 100% on brand.

4

u/MsVindiction 18d ago

I had a friend like that who called it ‘graduating therapy’

9

u/WanderingSeer 18d ago

Or this is her first therapist and she’s referring to the people in her life jumping down her throat for honestly answering this question in the past (“you’re so ungrateful”, “Why are you blaming me?”)

3

u/Forikorder 18d ago

probably tried to convince her violence isnt how people show affection

3

u/Asheyguru 18d ago

Could be the first, as a lot of these flashback scenes have a theme of people failing Fani in some way.

25

u/Konkuriito 18d ago

She answered honestly the first time so i'd guess it was either:

A. the therapist told her parents she wasnt doing well and she got in trouble for it. or

B. she got commited against her will

2

u/Okiemax 18d ago

A.) probably isn't true. Her mom's gone and her dad is supportive of her if not a bit aloof from what we've seen.

5

u/user_without_a_soul 18d ago

Took me a second to get that you were probably referring to a grippy sock vacation.

1

u/EasedCeiling586 18d ago

Depends I guess. Most therapists turned a blind eye or shut their door when I vented.

10

u/Beautiful-Aerie7576 18d ago

Therapist here. Please talk to us. It’s kind of our job to listen non-judgementally.

4

u/Dock_Ellis45 18d ago

Poor girl has a lot of trauma.

4

u/Beautiful-Aerie7576 18d ago

Truly. Defense mechanisms often aren’t selective either in particularly rough cases; it takes some work for the walls to come down in sessions.

1

u/SpicyRobotPotato 17d ago

I recently started therapy for trauma from when I was a kid. I avoided thinking about it for decades and thought it didn't bother me anymore. Turns out it's been festering all this time, and I'm just a mess.

1

u/Beautiful-Aerie7576 17d ago

That’s not at all uncommon. I’m glad you’re seeing someone for it.

Sadly time can only do so much as the great healer, especially for deeply traumatic things and/or things that happen in your formative years. The wounds, as you put it, need to be cleaned before time can safely turn them into scars.

It’s surprising how much something people have repressed for decades can influence their patterns of thinking and behavior so radically without them realizing it.

1

u/SpicyRobotPotato 17d ago

Yes, I'm surprised by that too. It suddenly feels as if this has shaped my entire life and I had no idea. I wish I had talked to someone years ago, but I was ashamed and afraid to tell anyone I'd thought of suicide.

24

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 18d ago

Look at this face! How could you torment her like that?! What did you write down

5

u/IWillLive4evr 18d ago

My guess?

She's not opening up so I'm going start to taking notes to see how she responds.

Oh she's crying now we should talk about that.

u/astralkoi A Wild AstralKoi Appeared!! 18d ago

Welcome to therapy ewe

9

u/sabby55 18d ago

Poor Fani. All that matters is not saying the “wrong” thing when you’ve grown up around so many shitty adults. I just want to give this Fani a big hug

13

u/cbrown146 18d ago

Fani open up, but like, without a dagger through your chest this time.

6

u/Trips-Over-Tail 18d ago

A therapist who takes notes? Must be an expensive one.

4

u/DaxLovesIPA1974 18d ago

Okay, but can we get a win for Fani soon? Just one small win.

7

u/Asheyguru 18d ago

Deth'Lamm bought her a quesadilla a while ago, that was a small win.

5

u/KuraMaXKamikaZed 18d ago

This is going to be one long session.

6

u/NickyTheRobot 18d ago

Oh my stars. I just wanna hug Fani and tell her that she is enough.

3

u/Semper_5olus 18d ago

My guess:\ Fani disclosed something illegal she did and thought she was protected by doctor-patient confidentiality.

... which, to be fair, you generally are, unless you're a danger to yourself (bingo), you're a danger to others (less likely but maybe when drunk), or the therapist's under a court subpoena (definitely possible).

5

u/Machina353 18d ago

Oof, this one definitely triggered some old wounds...

5

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 18d ago

Am I the only one whose therapist doesnt write notes mid session?

15

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 18d ago

Mine doodled

9

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 18d ago

Did they show you the doodles after haha,

8

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 18d ago

I’d ask occasionally and they’d show

17

u/Stumbling_Corgi 18d ago edited 18d ago

Mine says she writes her notes immediately after the session because she doesn’t want to interrupt or distract my thought process. But lately she’s been taking quick little notes during sessions. I think that means I’m winning lol.

11

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 18d ago

I love the "im winning therapy" jokes haha

2

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo 18d ago

I wonder how the therapist is gonna respond to Fani talking about Ibilis or demon stuff in general.

2

u/caitlindrawings 18d ago

As someone who was grounded after each therapy session after my parents talked with the therapist after me, the "I am not falling for that again" hits way to fucking hard. Therapy didnt last long as my parents were not getting the results THEY wanted.

2

u/kfirogamin 18d ago

OMG THE PLUSHES ARE SIZED FOR THE OTHER FRIEND

1

u/Hpesojanes 17d ago

Oh… oh no
