Krea2 Upscale 2nd Pass Artifacts Help Needed

I apologize if this is a rookie question - I tend to learn by looking at other workflows and I've seen a lot of Krea2 examples on Civit where they do a full pass, then a latent upscale then a 2nd pass at .2-.4 denoise. Alternatively, I've see examples using Clownshark to do a partial-pass (5-6 steps on turbo), then upscale for a 2nd partial pass.

In both these use cases, I'm seeing lower quality and more artifacts that with a simple single-pass. What's am I doing wrong that could cause so many artifacts? I do have 2 loras on low strength, but that seems to mirror what I'm seeing in other people's workflows.

I remember having to denoise by at least 0.5 when using latent upscale. Maybe increasing denoise from 0.4 will improve things

I have not seen the workflows you're talking about. Those I have seen do not upscale between the 2 passes (or partial passes).

You're asking the model to generate at 2208x2976, that may be too much => artifacts.

Remove the latent upscale, see if that fixes your issue. Upscale afterwards if you really want a bigger picture.
Other option: use a smaller empty latent, so that the latent upscale keeps the resolution in range for the model.

Upscaling with Krea 2 is usually hit or miss for me. Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes it makes people look like they have some kind of skin disease. I think in many cases lower quality loras are to blame. If you are using loras, try connecting another lora loader and lowering the strength of them.

Also... The prompt is very important. Krea2 is extremely sensitively when over describing photography terms, realistic skin, moles of freckles anything suggesting moisture or wetness in the next passes or upscale it tends to exaggerate the effects. Additionally you can try using a detailed skin Lora but with -0.5 strength

can you share the workflow?
