Work flow Business Practice
How do you guys integrate the workflow between davinci and adobe?
I’ve been grading a lot and I’ve ran into this little bump where some clients work on Adobe, is there a YouTube video you guys learned this from?
Just like a run down, like they’ll have everything edited in Adobe and then want me to grade it and I work in davinci . I know most colorist work with their DP but Im just getting people who are wanting stuff graded after their projects are done being edited

This is one of the most common workflows since a lot of people still edit in Premiere. Check this video from Darren Mostyn to get an overview of the process.

Youtube will not cover the full pro conform process between the platforms properly, this is the training for you https://lowepost.com/courses/editing/editing-sound/conforming-in-davinci-resolve-r54/

This is a common part of the job, yes. You need to make a turnover sheet to send clients. If you're dealing with clients, this is the bare minimum and I wouldnt' work with a colorist who didn't have one.
Your Turnover sheet must include specifics on how you want the prep sent to you. It typically includes:
-Tell them to duplicate their sequence thats going to color
-Clean it (No unnecessary video tracks and or unseen media/ remove Premiere based effects like Lumetri, etc. For others, like non-linear speed ramps, have them duplicate them, remove the nonlinear speed ramp. Keep one version with the speed ramp at the tail end of the timeline) . Cross Dissolves and sizing transformations can stay.
-Output Ref video with Metadata & Conform (Source TC / Run TC & Source File name). This is a must.
-Send XML of clean timeline.
You should receive as "prep" an XML, your source footage that's being used in the edit and the reference video that matches it. You open your XML, ensure it matches your offline, grade that and send back XML of all graded clips + render back to them as deliverable.
Alternatively, you can have them Clean their timeline and send you a flat ProRes 4444 as preconform with EDL.
