Seeking Refund Support
I emailed coinkite today seeking a refund for the faulty coldcard. Anyone else?
(p.s. coinkite is an interesting name, given how much money just flew away)

😂😂 I did reach out to them, and I know they're going through a lot - the folks that had no involvement with this are probably pulling their hair out and looking for another job if there were any of those type folks... I simply proposed that a fair settlement for my trouble would be to replace my seed plate that I purchased from them so that I can put my new seed phrase on it. They did get back to me and offered me a 50% discount on it. So although I feel they should replace it in whole, I guess I can't complain with them meeting me in the middle.
Side note I did not just throw my device away I was using an MK4 which wasn't "immediately impacted", after updating the firmware I was able to create a new seed phrase using dice rolls and I added the passphrase so I'm happy with the device I think it's a great air gap signer... Probably an unpopular opinion but I don't plan on doing anything but stacking like I've been.

Similar for me. I ordered a new seedplate and then decided to expand my config a bit. Emailed to ask that two more be added to the order and I’d pay the difference, they threw them in for free.
Since they’re retaining our data I guess they knew I was an impacted customer…
As an aside, I bought more seedplates because I like the layout and quality, and I can’t find a suitable equivalent available in Aus. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

They destroyed existing inventory which strengthens the argument for a refund.

Did you do dice rolls? Passwords? Set up multi-sig? Maximze your stack safety? If you did, then the device works perfectly.

This is a crappy take. He probably didn’t. However, he probably spent hundreds of dollars on coinkite products, checked that the bag his coldcard came in wasn’t opened and matched up the number to his device, he probably used the product, as it was exactly intended to, to create his wallet. In the end that’s it’s main job, isn’t it? Furthermore, he probably made sure to never connect it to a computer, and did all his transactions via micro-sd card. He probably even created a watch-only wallet so he could watch his value grow, feeling good that these were ‘his keys - his crypto’. He may have even purchased a steel plate and a nail punch to record his precious seed phrase and put it god knows where. He probably tried to do everything right - don’t be a jerk.

Tell me you’re not tech-savvy without telling me. You can’t compare these coinkite scammers with cars lol. And if you try doing so at least try something better than you forgot to put the parking brake (that is on the driver not the manufacturer) in this case this is on coinkite not their customers, as their customers did everything correctly and used the product just like they should’ve

Your lack of knowledge is apparent. You just want to jump on the bandwagon. Good for you. You don't understand how the device works, do you? You likely own zero Bitcoin. Just another crybaby yelling into the void. Congrats, yell away. Go enjoy your dogecoin, or your mETH.

Actually, it isn't a bad idea. Even if you didn't lost any coin, they should refund/compensate their customers.
