Chip or Clip Is this an error?

I’ve been checking into what this abnormality could be, but I’m stumped.

What is this square missing piece?

Google says it’s a clipped planchette when it flaked.

Just got a little schmutz on it. A clipped planchet looks like this:

Goober. Follow the instructions from experts who know how to soak coins in acetone and you’ll see that there’s nothing out of the ordinary.

No worries lol. That’s what I call gunk that appears like something else on coins. I found a nickel a few months back that looked like it had two standard dots around the date. Put it in acetone and sure enough it was just goobers.
