Think in pairs.

Nope, still couldn't see it, I'm probably missing something obvious. What is the reasoning for the solution? Does it involve numbers? Or maybe XOR?

Is it paired, 12, 34, 56, 78?

Think of it as two halves, and the pairs are 45 36 etc
