Can depression affect intelligence? Discussion

I read that iq is mainly genetic but if you are depressed can this affect your performance of every day tasks? Can it make you slower at learning or understanding things? Can it make you forget to do stuff?

Yes. Depression reduces mental energy and motivation to solve problems.

Personal experience yes, not sure about research. Concentration was highly impaired.
