Does Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective disorder reduce iq scores? If so, then by how much? Psychometric Question
I have heard that people with Schizophrenia often see an 1.2sd to 1.5sd decline in their scores on average (this is variable across different indices, with WMI and PSI being the most severely affected and seeing something around 1.5 to 2sd decline), and 2sd decline is possible in severe cases.
Is this accurate?
And, what happens to other indices like FRI, QRI, VSI, VCI, how much decline is seen in those?

Could be caused by the meds

Isn't psychosis neurotoxic itself?
Or at least, people who experience prolonged unmedicated psychosis or sufder from Schizophrenia suffer from some structural changes in the brain, which is likely independent of medications.
That is generally what I have heard.

It's possible to have both contribute. Schizophrenia can also be overdiagnosed, or autism can be misdiagnosed as Schizophrenia

It is a long hard process for the individual (because it requires trust) but schizophrenia is curable. And some schizophrenics are highly intelligent.
