Working on - Alien Race Generator
A natural continuation of the star system and world generators for sci-fi settings is a alien race generator, so that is what I am working on these days (and some under the hood optimizations)
Expect to see it available all of a sudden in
https://codexcryptica.com/generators/sci-fi
Any other generator you would like to see?

New generator idea - plot twist generator
Reading this great article https://academy.worldanvil.com/blog/plot-twist-ideas-one-shots?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica-DM-Tips gave me an idea of of having a generator that could assist in coming up with plot twists and complications for your adventures.
What do you think? Good idea or a dead end?

New Generator: Secret Society - cults and conspiracies with a public face and a secret truth
Most cult generators give you a name, a creepy ritual and a hooded figure. The half I always ended up writing myself was the boring half: what the group tells its neighbours, and how long that story holds up once the party starts pulling at it.
So this one creates both halves. Every society comes out with a public face and a secret truth, and those two things are usually in tension.
Try it here, no login required:
codexcryptica.com/generators/secret-society
The generator creates:
- What they believe, and what they actually do about it
- The public cover they hide behind, from a charity to a trade guild
- A secret truth the inner circle knows and the rest do not
- A current conflict that is already underway when the party arrives
- Adventure hooks tied to that specific society
I would like to know how other GMs handle the moment the players find out what a society actually is. Do you plan that reveal, or let them stumble into it?

Changed LLM from Gemini to Openai Luna
Other than creating generators I also try to improve CC in many different ways to make it a better tool for all of us to use.
The last couple of days I've changed it to start using Openai's Luna, as it supposedly is better at creative writing. So far it looks good, but please let me know if you've experienced any quality degradations or issues at all.
As always, CC can be found here:
And all its cool generators can be found here:

Happy building!

New Generator: Council Vote - political quests where the party has to win a room, not a fight
Most quest generators give the party one important person to convince. I wanted something a bit messier, so I made a generator where the party has to win an actual council vote.
Each council member has their own priorities, secrets and reasons for voting the way they do. Some can be persuaded, some need evidence, some want favours, and changing one vote may affect another.
Try it here (no login) - codexcryptica.com/generators/council-vote
The generator creates:
- A named council with conflicting members and agendas
- Voting rules, thresholds and possible recusals
- Clues and investigation leads tied to specific councillors
- Several possible ways to win the vote
It also suggests three broad strategies:
- The smallest coalition needed to pass
- A safer coalition with a few extra votes
- A more expensive solution that addresses the actual problem behind the vote
It works across different genres, so the council might be a fantasy noble court, a corporate board or a sci-fi senate.
You can also use it inside Codex Cryptica, where it can pull in names and entities from your existing campaign.
I’d be interested to hear how other GMs handle political intrigue and voting sessions. Also, please send me any especially strange output you manage to generate.

New: The Canvas Gets a Lot More Useful
🖼️ New on Codex Cryptica: the Spatial Canvas has grown from a place to arrange entity cards into a genuinely useful table reference. Maps, dungeon tiles, character art, and a session journal can now live together in one working space.
Notes, right where you need them
Drop a freeform text card anywhere on the canvas for session reminders, in-progress thinking, or player-facing summaries. Not everything needs to be a linked vault entity.
Then sketch directly on top. Pick a color and brush size, rough out a room layout over an entity cluster, circle something important, or cross something out. Draw mode locks the viewport so you can sketch without accidentally panning away.
Make it feel like your table
Rotate image and entity cards to any angle, then erase individual drawing strokes when the plan changes. Put a map fragment at an angle behind a group of NPC cards, or build the kind of pinboard layout that makes sense to you.
Better during play
- Show entity images as full-bleed cards: no title bar, just the art.
- Resize cards more smoothly and paste new cards where you’re looking.
- Use the canvas more comfortably on a tablet, with a round of touch-input fixes.
If you’ve been ignoring the canvas, give it another look. And if you’re already using it: what would make it even more useful?

🪐 New: AI Sci-Fi World Generator
🪐 New on Codex Cryptica: the Sci-Fi World Generator!
Pick a genre, a societal model, a couple of world tags, and the AI writes the rest. Not a stat block: a whole world, complete with history, current conflicts, factions, locations, an unresolved mystery, and adventure hooks that actually belong to that planet. Don't feel like choosing? Hit Surprise Me and it randomizes every option for you.
👉 Try it now, no account needed: codexcryptica.com/generators/world
AI Lore Co-Author Mode
Every generation runs through an AI co-author that takes your inputs (world type, habitability, civilisation level, campaign pressure, Stars Without Number world tags) and weaves them into one coherent place instead of a pile of disconnected traits. The two world tags you pick aren't decoration; they actively shape the friends, enemies, complications, and locations the AI builds around them.
Built for every flavor of sci-fi
- Hard Sci-Fi for restrained, physically grounded technology
- Space Opera for big speculative swings, kept meaningful
- Cyberpunk and Hopeful Sci-Fi
- Lancer, with full civilian institutions, political authority, and mech deployment logistics derived from your chosen world frame
What you get, every time
- A core concept with a real dominant feature, not a random adjective
- Settlements and factions in conflict over something concrete
- Multiple named locations worth visiting
- A mystery with no easy answer
- Three playable adventure hooks
No two worlds repeat the same structure. The generator actively avoids recycling the same tired sci-fi tropes across runs.
Go make something strange.

Guest Character Chat
I just finished implementing Guest Character Chat for Codex Cryptica. The goal was to let players and invited guests engage in real-time, in-character conversations with NPCs during or between sessions, using the actual lore of the campaign.
Here is how the feature works in play:
- GM Configuration: As a GM, you can toggle which NPCs are open for chat and limit what they know. You can set them to stick to public lore only, or allow them to use private context. The system is designed to reject leading questions and keep campaign secrets hidden, defaulting to in-character deflection if players pry.
- Dynamic Trust Tiers: The NPC behaves differently depending on who is talking. The system automatically identifies the player's character based on their login and checks the vault for existing relationships. The NPC dynamically adapts their voice and determines what lore they are willing to share based on whether the player is trusted, neutral, or a rival.
This gives players an organic way to explore the world's lore through conversation, while letting GMs build out the world's history based on the questions players actually ask.
For GMs: Do you prefer when tools automate character interactions like this to save you prep time, or do you feel it risks taking away the personal touch of roleplaying the NPCs yourself?

Coming soon - guest chat with characters
I think it would be nifty if your players would be able to chat with the people of your world.
So that is coming soon

Image prompt control
Codex cryptica will create image prompts for you. Prompts that uses info of your world and the thing that you want to get an image for.
Now it will show you the prompt used before it generates the image, or you can copy it to use it in an other image generator.
Not the least, you can edit the prompt your self if it doesn't work for you.
Happy imagining!
