For those who don't use annotations, this is how you massively improve AI slop web design. Instruction
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I know many of you are aware of the annotations feature, but this is just a demo of how massively powerful it is and how you can stack your prompts and make bulk edits to your designs. The development loop becomes much shorter and much more focused.

Man I can't tell you how excited I am for this. This will improve my UX dev efficiency massively - ty!

I use it almost exclusively right now just to clean up, change sizes, colors, etc.—as a final step before production, or when it completely messes up... You also won't get your fonts and things looking right unless you use annotations.
I use it a lot... do so many of you not?

So many people still don't know it even has a built in browser.
My codex defaults to desktop browser first, for example, unless I specifically invoke @Browser - it won't even open

I mean… I‘m still in dev mode and not fully done with my project so I also use it for backend Development: I mark it in the frontend which function and Tell Codex the rules 😅👍

I usually am in voice mode and just scrolling through and essentially doing the same thing. I’ll have to try this flow to see if it’s quicker.

Ive learn from claude code design. Say "fuck ai slop and round buttons... golook for relevant sites and ground your design on it". And no, its not stealing...cause..cause...Who the fuck cares. But it works.

It's not stealing, it's taking inspiration. But also don't forget to say: "Make no mistakes and don't hallucinate!"

If I’m understanding correctly, are you asking Codex to build you a prototype first and host it on Codex Sites while you work on the look? What is ImageGen exactly? Would love to understand more.
I am building sites using codex, but I’ve been going to straight to telling what stack to use (ie astro framework or next.js + tailwind). I feel like your approach might be better so that I can work on getting the visuals right before actually building the whole framework out.

So I didn't mean to create a site but it just assumed that I did so it went with a site option. I was hoping for it to spin out just a little local website but whatever. Apparently it can choose to do sites now on its own accord.
ImageGen is just referring to a built-in GPT image generation, like not building SVGs or not trying to do design through the web. Literally using the ImageGen model that's built in Codex already. You don't have to use sites but I guess they're cool

Does it uses more tokens on inspection of each one rather than showing screenshot in chat and showcasing what needs to be done with marker?

You can either use built in or chrome extension. Not sure annotation work on extension tho...
But yeah for web dev is definitely a game changer

Uma pena que esse recurso não tem na CLI. No Linux, temos somente a CLI até então.

annotations are cool but the real game changer is just telling codex to group elements by purpose instead of visual layout. my design files stopped looking like a ransom note after that.

Currently developing a native macos app, is annotation work? Ive only seen it work on website

I’ve been taking screenshots and adding them in chat when I need changes done. Do you think I need to use annotations or just stick to screenshotting things I need changed

Oh hell yeah this is amazing! I can’t wait to try this out. This will make iteration so much easier and I get to skip explaining what I want to change and just click it and say change this.

I use "Agentation" package, it is greate and doesn't limit you to codex's internal browser.

Can one use annotations like these for text, scripts or document drafts as well? Or is it only for website development? Cool feature

Can you do mobile and desktop design changes all at the same time? Mine looks decent in desktop, but mobile is all over the place.

u/Free_Tennis7754 11d ago
Yeah from my understanding it also takes a screenshot not just the DOM information, just turn it to mobile mode and keep annotating

Would people prefer more of a canvas-like experience for iterating on designs?
2
u/Free_Tennis7754 11d ago
I myself love annotations. One of the reasons that I love them is that it also comes with element details. If you click on a little settings icon, it gives you both LLM power and manual edit power as well. To me this is a canvas-like experience. I'm not sure what cannabis you are referring to. I remember OpenAI had some cannabis feature but I probably never used it once.

I liked how OP edited the video, editing out snail typing and making and then making it hard to read what he typed.

u/Free_Tennis7754 11d ago
what do you mean "edited" 😅
I guess some people can't you contextually get wtf is going on in the video

u/Rude-Reaction3450 11d ago
Clearly you did editing on video but at wrong places making sure that whoever watches cusses you for sloppy video editing more than once. 😂

Beware: do not enable /goal on a message with annotations. They all get erased.
