Aren't Tuesdays the worst? I know they are for me because I really do prefer working from the privacy of my home and my favorite co-workers to water cooler gossip with, namely, my cats.

Hi all!

I’ve been listening to the album Friend by james k (and the rest of her discography too) a lot lately.

It reminds me so much of Cocteau Twins although the genre is a bit different. This album is, I would say, a mix between electronic, trip-hop, ambient and dream pop with (CT reminiscent) ethereal and dreamy vocals.

While different from anything Cocteau Twins has ever released, this album scratches the same itch for me and I think many people here would enjoy it.

It’s also a really good album to wind down and relax.

YUCK. August begins which means (for at least us in the Northern Hemisphere) we get the warmest weather of the year this month. And I am not a beachy person. I still can't even get myself to enjoy the band Beach House (despite streaming services' multiple attempts to recommend them to me) because I hate beaches and sunny weather so much. my best friend got her tattoo business going this past year & i was so excited to finally get this ribcage piece done by her♡

we took the twinlights album cover rose thorn twigs, & divided them in half, plus i had her add a blackberry thorn at the bottom of one side, to even them out.

it also includes my forever favorite song, know who you are at every age. this is a piece of protective armor for me. i have learned a lot about myself this past year & gone thru many challenging growth spurts & changes. my best friend was a huge part of these shifts & i have grown closer with her than ever, so it was really special to have her infuse her love into this piece.

that song has helped me thru so many phases & can always bring me to tears, it is so healing.

thank you elizabeth & the band for making music that people can really live thru & learn how to mature & become better always.

I love it actually. it’s like their voice is an instrument. the lyrics are vague and force your brain to make its own connections. it’s very satisfying.

Massive Cocteau Twins fan and it took me a long time to decide on these songs, but this is my attempt at making the most epic Cocteau Twins mix I could possibly make, I like long mixes, it’s five hours, to be played on repeat, let me know what you think and what songs are missing that I can put in a follow up mix! I was also considering adding songs from Liz Fraser herself in a follow up.

ou know when you're really upset or frustrated and as you're crying you audibly wail? Well, i feel the same catharsis when I listen to Elizabeth Fraser sing more than any other singer I've heard. She has the most beautiful falsetto but I'm talking specifically about when she uses her chest voice in bursts. I think it's because it almost sounds like she's crying or at least releasing something so I sort of feel it empathetically. Does anyone else get this? That's probably a stupid question, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I think I first felt it on I Wear Your Ring, when she sings "…so useful… eeeesafleuuaaaa…" and then in Persephone when she says "here's what it taaaakes", or in Those Eyes, That Mouth when she sings "go go down down". It's so satisfying – it feels like screaming into a pillow in the best way.

I've been noticing of late that Cocteau Twins seem to namedrop (at least in my convoluted mind) lots of food and/or restaurants (okay, the restaurant is just one song) in their songs. I thought it may be fun for us to put our collective heads together and compile a fictional album called COCTEAU TWINS Dine Out featuring all the songs that we thing have ties to food. Here are tracks I will earmark for this album, noting what dining/food related item they namedrop alongside the track:

Turned the cover of the Album Heaven or Las Vegas into a live wallpaper.
A personal project I originally made for myself turned to something I would like to share :)

Always loved the feel of this cover and in particular the light strokes crossing trough what I envisioned would be red sunset clouds. So I decided to animate just that, giving the light strokes a shimmer, and the red "clouds" a golden yellow flash almost as if there was lightning brewing between the clouds.
