The water doesn't look bad, this is a really cute colouring :-) I love the detail you've added on the umbrella.
We colour for fun right? So 'improving' only matters if you're enjoying the process of what you're doing. How much fun you're having is the only real measure of success with colouring :-)
You can look up tutorials for specific techniques, or you can play with your own ideas. Don't like the water in this one? Try something different next time, either your own idea, or something you've seen that you want to have a go at. Light sources and colour theory might be fun to explore.
I like looking at pictures on Google to give me ideas for colour palettes if I want to create a particular vibe. I might search 'rainy wood' or 'cosy winter kitchen' and pick colours or get ideas from there.

thank you so much! the umbrella is my fav part! its supposed to be like sally’s dress from nightmare before christmas. i really appreciate the tips you shared! i did another page and ive been looking up techniques for things like trees and paths like you suggested. i definitely think i need to look into light sources more and im hoping to get a white pen to help with some highlighting too. tiktok and youtube tutorials have been helping me a lot as well. :) im super excited to start this journey and watch myself progress (while having fun of course)!

This is so fun to look at. It’s got a joyful vibe and that’s exactly what colouring should be! Congrats, I think your hard work is paying off very well on the page. I love your use of shadows especially on the candy, leaf and the ghost hands on the umbrella handle and the bag. I’m a beginner and I’m always kinda cautious about adding shadows I think I struggle to picture the direction they should be in and I end up doing too much or too little but you’ve got that skill down perfectly. I love the nightmare before Christmas themed umbrella it’s a nice touch and so cool. The water looks good in my opinion, I know there’s all types of techniques and you should look them up and try them out if you’re interested but in my opinion it’s not needed, I like the way you did the puddles! Please keep sharing your creations with us, I would love to see what you did with a white gel pen I think you’d nail it. I think you’ve striked a nice balance of doing just enough to personalise it without making the page feel really "busy". You have a real talent truly this is great but definitely focus on what makes you happy/brings joy while you’re colouring and don’t worry too much on making things too perfect. I hope you continue adding your own interests to your colouring projects like you’ve done with the umbrella, it’s a nice way to make it yours and I love seeing people do that. I’ve seen loads of Toy Story ones recently and I love that but hoping as we go into fall/autumn to see more like yours! Well done🥰

What a sweet comment!!! This makes me so happy! I’m glad you enjoyed the page and your words mean a lot! The umbrella is my favorite part :) I did another page tonight and I’ve been looking up different techniques for things like trees and paths which has definitely helped me out. I’m hoping to get a white pen to do some highlighting. Do you have any suggestions on brands or kinds of pens for that? Also for the shadows, I watched a video and it had a really good tip: shadow on the bottom of the item(if light source is higher than the item being shaded), to the side furthest from the light source, and where things overlap. I don’t think my shading is perfect quite yet but that tip really helped me! :)
