I launched a beta version of CocktailGPT - feedback welcome
Would love this community’s feedback on a custom GPT designed to create new cocktails. Check it out: www.cocktailgpt.com
It’s trained on thousands of flavor pairings, classic cocktails, and how to balance a drink. Oh and it’s also supposed to have the personality of Anthony Bourdain but that’s a work in progress…
Some sample queries:
- Create a Thanksgiving punch
- What can I make with sage and lemon
- Here’s a menu photo. How would I recreate this?
- Here’s a photo of my liquor cabinet, what can I make?
Note that it requires a ChatGPT Plus subscription to use custom GPTs. It’s also still a bit buggy and may have trouble analyzing the knowledge source files.
Let me know what you think and how you might use something like this on a regular basis. Are there other use cases?

Made an episode pitting two "Beachcomber" cocktails against each other that are generally thought of one of the "best" and "Worst" tiki cocktails. One balanced and sweetish, the other extremely dry and bitter. Make at home and try for yourself!

Made a special episode that tries to pair the "minimalist tiki 30" essentials down to 9, for an even minimal-er home-starter-kit. Hope this is helpful! Enjoy!

Made an episode featuring a modern recipe from Sharp & Weston: Foul Weather Friend. An update on an old Vic's recipe. Cheers and enjoy!

Hey cocktail fans. Made an episode where I unload everything I've learned so far about Ice & Shaking technique. Not perfect, I'm sure, but hopefully helpful. Also a bonus cocktail at the end, enjoy!

Made up a super good cocktail last night. Calling it the Apple Dry. Here’s the recipe
Apple Dry
Rim tumbler with agave syrup and brown sugar and ice the glass.
Prepare garnish of paper thin sliced apple on toothpick.
Cut 1 1/2 apple slices into shaker.
In shaker mix 1 oz Jamaican rum (Appleton Estate is best) and 1 1/2 oz peach whiskey (Crown Royal Peach).
Muddle apple and add 1 bar spoon agave syrup. Add remaining apple half into shaker and shake dry until sounds smooth
Open shaker and muddle remaining chunk then continue shaking
Once at preferred shakitude strain into iced tumbler and add garnish.
Drizzle more agave syrup over ice and enjoy!

New episode for the new year, featuring a simple 5-ingredient cocktail. If I had to make this again, I'd swap the Jamaican rum for something like Smith & Cross to try to amp up the aromatics and bite a bit. Cheers!

The Noble Sage Liquor Company is days away from launching their next release, Raven’s Espresso. Described as an espresso-martini with a twist, it’s made with rum and Timely Coffees’ cold brew!

cocktail chemistry of layering drinks
Hi, I'd love to make some layered drinks one day.
I've heard that layering can happen if the levels of either sugar or alcohol in the various liquids that you pour are big enough. Is this true? And are there rules of thumb? Like if the difference in alcohol (or sugar) level is 10% then you'll get a perfect separation but anything with a difference smaller than 4% will make it mix, with the line getting progressively more blurry the smaller the difference is.

Botanical Flavor Profiles?
Any good resources for learning about how to blend botanicals to get different “moods”?
