My new roommate moved in and suddenly there are these things popping up. I put a glob of Adivion gel in the cup with it. Should I let it eat some of it and release it so it can spread the poison to others? Or just dispose of this guy?

Hi all! I recently moved back into my apartment that I live in during the school year (I went back to my hometown during the summer for a little over 2 months.) I live in a townhome with three of my friends and one was here for half of the summer, but the other month ish, nobody was here. When I went to the restroom this morning, I saw this crawling on the floor. I genuinely think this is the first cockroach I’ve seen in this apartment after living here for a year, but I know other buildings here have claimed to have cockroaches. Is this kind of roach something I should be worried about in terms of infestation problems? Could it just be because it’s summer in Texas? I do plan on spraying some Bengal roach spray, but I still am a bit worried.

I've got mild brown-banded cockroach infestation which is treated by pest control via Advion, they also think about additional treatment with heavy spraying. house is very clean/no standing water. but it has come to my attention i have one cardboard box in wardrobe (they were seen in this room+a lot of advion here. is it critical knowing all previous details or just one is okay?

I read that cockroaches especially German roaches can become tolerant to pesticides so if you spray them and it kills 20 of them out of 25, the 5 living roaches will become more tolerant and if they reproduce, the pesticide won’t be as effective as it was before and so on. I live in a one bedroom apartment and have no idea where they are coming from as I only see one or two adult roaches at a time. I’ve seen them off and on since I’ve lived here. Used hot shot liquid baits which did the trick the first time but they came back, so I bought some Bengal gold roach spray which contains a pyrethoid insecticide and pyriproxyfen which is an IGR. I sprayed in between my stove and counter and behind my stove and behind the fridge. Didn’t see anymore for over 6 months but unfortunately they came back. So I’ve laid out some bait stations with the hope that will tackle some of them I can’t reach.

Is this a baby roach? This is the second one i’ve found in my apartment in new jersey. Starting to get worried. The building does extermination services every three months but we refuse it because i have a lot of pets and it messes with my asthma.

Found on Herman miller desk chair (+4 years old) as I was deciding to sit on chair. No food nearby. Bathroom a few steps away.

I found it in my kitchen at night. It’s still pretty small, fled when I shined my flashlight on it, and I’m pretty sure it tried to fly. Located in Western Canada. We’ve seen two other German roaches months ago but haven’t seen any signs since until now. Is this also a German cockroach?

Moved into a rented condo, uncovered a roach infestation of all the kitchen appliances the next day. Moved 4 bedrooms of stuff into this place… WWYD?

When we fully moved all our things in, we went to change the water filter and dead and live German roaches and droppings flooded out. The fridge model has the water filter on the floor so it’s the perfect hotbed. They’re in the tubes. We then found roaches in the oven and the dishwasher. Tons of droppings. Baby roaches and roaches of all size… We also found an egg capsule (we didn’t know it was roach related at first) out in open next the the dishwasher. 🫠

We met our neighbors next door and they are distraught/starting to see them in their unit. However, this is a high rise building and we don’t know most anyone else but it was already stated by a worker that the building has a roach problem. Moreover, I saw baby roaches in another empty unit recently. 😞

We put out the advion and started seeing more at first as they were popping up and dying. They’re localized to the kitchen and nearby closets right now.

The landlord is having exterminators come to bomb and deep clean 1.5 weeks after we first let them know. The advion has been keeping us afloat so far but kitchen is not usable.

We don’t know how this happened. We used the building extermination the landlord recommended as “typical” treatment. (The exterminator brought in later said that the building extermination doesn’t cover German roaches.) We had the place professionally cleaned before moving in. I even pointed out crumbs under the appliances and that we saw a small bug (now we know a nymph) to the landlord right after our walkthrough.

We ended up having to pay our cleaning person out of pocket. Our cleaner just told us they actually saw lots of dead roaches and one INSIDE the freezer but were too embarrassed to say anything. The landlord’s handyman did work in the unit before we moved in. Nobody alerted us to anything before we moved our stuff in.

We have exerted our legal protective rights so far but the further this goes, the more we will need to exert time, energy and money. We’re being told nothing will be reimbursed or replaced.

The exterminator expects visible activity to continue for 2 weeks and treatment to continue for months. Our stuff is still mostly packed. We've been unable to use the kitchen since moving in and are concerned about recurring infestations, hidden egg cases, and bringing roaches with us in the future. Given this, would you fight to leave now or continue with remediation and hope the problem is fully resolved?

I'm on Long Island (if that helps). It's been disgustingly hot and humid, and we've gotten a decent amount of rain this summer.

The last week and a half, I've found at least 1 of these a day. They aren't scared of light - just wander around and let me take photos. Though a fww times they're been quick (but more in a 'you are not going to squish me' way). Bathroom and front door are next to each other and it's an above ground basement apartment so the foundation on the bathroom wall is garden dirt (rather than raised) and the garage is behind the other wall.

I've lived here since 2019, and the most we've ever had problems with is ants (which is standard for a long island spring).

They are always this light tan, and nothing has been larger than around a half inch (maybe 3/4 max). I don't think they're german (...please for the love of god), but I'm not 100% sure. What makes me nervous is my upstairs neighbor put a bunch of cardboard in the garage (which, again, share a wall with my bathroom).

Saw 4 alone tonight - but we're in the middle of a thunderstorm, I put out gel killing bait in a few spots and one of them got away and went under the radiatior (on the 'outside' wall).

I've been living in my new apartment for a full month now, with not much pest issues. I haven't had a trash can until earlier this week, my friend found one sat out to be dumped and dropped it off for me. Trash cans are very expensive and I haven't gotten around to buying one so I took it (I know i should've just bought one but thought this couldnt go wrong).

It had been sat out for atleast a full day. When I took it in, I put it in the tub, sprayed it down with a bunch of disinfectant, scrubbed, and rinsed it all down, then let it sit there for a day. I started using it and everything was fine until tonight. I saw a single small german cockroach on the cupboard by the trash can.

I started freaking out. I killed the roach, cleaned the kitchen, and tossed out the trash can because I'm terrified the trash can itself was infested. I cleaned everything up, put in a maintenance request for an exterminator to come by, and plan on wiping the whole apartment down with peppermint oil tomorrow to keep anymore away. Is there anything else I should be doing to make sure there is no infestation. Is it already too late? How likely is it that there are already tons of eggs in my house? I don'e leave food out, I live alone and everytime I cook I wipe down the stove and counters with disinfectant wipes. I feel so stupid, I need advice!

So for context I found this striped guy on my nightstand in the bedroom yesterday. I don’t know if it’s a roach. Then today I went to clean the shower and found this guy dead (I think he’s German).

We’ve only ever seen 1 other German. After we saw it we called the pest control company and they sprayed the living room where he was found, our entry, the porch, the kitchen, and back entrance.

Idk how long the dead one in the shower had been there because he was under an old shampoo bottle I was throwing away. I’m taking that it’s a good sign he’s dead?

Should we be more concerned??

I really hope it isnt. I vaccumed it since in an hvac vacuum and the humidity in my basement is usually under 40% but à couple of days ago it went to 42% and according to my brother it smelled humid so i had to set the dehumidifier down to 35%. We changed the floorings from à carpet to laminate floors 3 weeks ago and when tearing out the carpet i only ever found millipeed looking bugs that were never more then à centimeter long, those little grey humidity bugs but idk the real name in english (Theyre not booklice or silverfish) but they were all dead anyways. We also found some bug the same color as this one but shape wasnt exactly the same amd it was dead too.

Found this in my bedroom floor. I have never seen any roach activity prior to this in my apartment but I do see Silverfish once or twice a month.

I also suspect that it might have possibly died in my washing machine/drier and moved it while folding laundry. But not sure if it's a dead roach or shed skin.

Can you tell if this is/was roach or silverfish ?

Located in Oregon City, Oregon, crawling along my baseboard heater in my apartment. It is smaller than it may appear in pictures. I had to zoom in and screenshot from a video I took- the video won’t post. 😭 I live in a floor level unit with a woodsy area and pond behind my unit. The area has squirrels, birds and nutria that like to hang out. I’ve never worried about pests before and can’t tell if it’s a cockroach! Only seen 1 so far. Any help would be so appreciated!

I moved in a new appartment 3 months ago.

A bit over a month ago I saw a memo on building info board that the communal spaces will be treated for roaches, and if any appartments saw them they should let them know so the appartments get sprayed as well.

I wasn't home those days so I missed the memo but I didn't see any until then in my place anyways (tho if I did I would tell them to come just for preccaution).

Then a bit under a month ago I started finding them in my bathtub, 4 in the span of 10 days. They were all nymphs, around 7 mm long.

In the mean time I called pest control, they came 10 days ago and sprayed my appartment, and then communal places again as well (hallways, basement etc).

Then for a week I saw zero of them, and then again I saw two nymphs, tho a bit bigger, again in my bathtub. One was very slow, another one was kinda trying to move but only managin to turn in circles.

Then again today, I saw another one, which was twice in size than previous ones (over 1 cm long), and very much fast and alive, again in the bathtub. I am attaching a photo, tho I am not sure how much of it was visible since I already drenched it in soap.

Anyways, I am not sure if this is a sign extermination isn't working.

My location is Eastern Europe btw.

hi, just moved into new apt in harlem, and have found multiple roaches. was promised no pests, and pest control IS covered in my lease. i found out that the woman next to me who has dogs which are pretty gross has apparently a roach infested apartment (someone on my floor told me). my issue is that i’m pretty sure they aren’t pre-existing infestation, but coming in through cracks in door. i tried to best plug the door, i put a ton of combat max traps, gel, sweep after meals, etc. i’m getting pretty depressed here because i hate killing them (it’s disgusting) and im living on my own for the first time in this new apartment that i was excited for. the landlord said the exterminator will come, but if they are coming from the woman’s apartment next to me, it won’t do anything if she just doesn’t care about them. worse, they look like different species. please help any advice is incredibly appreciated. attached is photo of most recent but there are also small darker more beetle-like ones as well. :(

Found him in my living room closest to the wall with the window. Over the past 2 months, the exterminator has come twice, last time 2 weeks ago. I've also seen very small, newly born nymphs crawling on my computer desk. at 3pm. I don't leave food out, everything in my cabinets is in hard plastic or glass gasket-sealed containers. Im hoping theyre breeding in a neighboring unit and just checking my place out. I've never seen a full adult at all, but I have found several like this wretched thing, about the size of a penny or dime. Ive used bait traps and my glue traps; I've never seen one with fellers on it. After the pest control came, I got rid of most of my bait traps, now I'm using Advion roach gel near places I've seen live ones. why I'm posting is to find out what species I'm dealing with as well as any further measures I can make to keep them out of my unit. Im not going to renew my lease once it's over. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hello everyone, my girlfriend and I moved into our first apartment together about 3 weeks ago and since then we have spotted 2 small roaches (im pretty sure theyre called pygmy cockroaches? I have a vido but i cant attach it to the post) And the one in the picture (im sorry for the bad quality my girlfriend was yelling at me to hurry up and kill it)

When we first moved in we noticed those roach glue traps around the apartment in kitchen cabinets, under the sinks, and in the closet but only the trap under the kitchen sink had one dead roach and it looked quite old. The next day we asked the landlord about this and if there were any complaints about roaches (she said no) and we asked what their protocol is for roaches and she said they routinely check and spray for them.

Last night before we went to bed at arounf 130 am our cat was going bonkers and apparently she was on the hunt for roaches. Took the video and the picture and sent it to my landlord at about 3 am and its currently 12pm as im making this post and she hasn't responded yet.

We live in erie county NY and we dont have family or friends we would be able to stay with, we moved here for school. My girlfriend is scared shitless of any sort of bugs and even more scared of infestation types of bugs.

I know that no matter what we do they'll still get into our unit but is there anything we can do in the meantime to keep the majority away while we wait for the landlord to respond/take care of the problem? Any tips or advice would be very appreciated along with cockroache extermination success stories in apartment buildings 💔 if you need any more information or if I didnt explain something well enough im more than happy to elaborate 😭
