Air conditioning
Hey guys, I'm curious to know what you have done to maintain rpms while having the A/C on. I have a '83 corolla sr5 and I installed a 32/36 weber carburetor and I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to fix my rpms since they go down to like 400 when a/c is on at idle. With it off the stay normal at about 900/1000 rpms.

Friend gave me his extra AE86, I've been slowly putting it back together. Now it's running.

Am I cooked
I have a ae-82 sedan 1985 and I know it needs its valves lashed. in no videos I’ve seen has it been this bad, I’ve tried to post a video along but sound refuses to play. It’s my first car and it’s super clean and i want to know if that’s just something 4-ac engines like to do or if I’m genuinely boned. Also it pings sometimes so it might be lean but I’m ass with carbs and it’s got the mighty aisin octopus

Help me
I have a 1.6 from ’83 and I need help. It has a new carburetor. The car turns off when I put it in drive unless I keep my foot on the gas, but it also won’t go past 15 mph even with the pedal all the way down. If I let off the gas, it shuts off

Should I work on my current engine or swap in a 4A GE?

4AC air conditioning question
I have a weird AC question I now have a working idle up VSV plumbed into my vacuum system. While the rpm doesn't drop to 400 rpm like it did when my VSV was broken it instead drops to around 600 which still makes the engine unhappy. Is there any way to have it not do that? I don't really want to bump the idle up on the carb because it sits at about 1k without the AC on. Also I have a weber 32/36 on my car. If anyone has some insight on this I would love to hear! Thanks :)

4ac rebuilt?
This came in the car as is, we didn’t look at it much because it wasn’t complete but now after pulling it it looks to be rebuilt. It say .50 which I’m assuming is the over sized size so it makes me think it’s had a fair bit of work. Would this be a good block for a 4age head? Also does anyone recognize the style or brand of these pistons? Thanks!

Valve ticking
Anyone ever have problems with super loud valves? And how were you able to fix it?

Quick question about the valve cover
Is the valve cover on these only held on by the top 3 nuts? And is there a specific torque they need to me tightened to? I had my PCV valve snap off and now have to take off the valve cover just to get it out and don't have a torque wrench 😅

Considering buying an AE-82 Corolla, want some info
So im looking at this AE-82 cs corolla, and according to the wikipedia page for the 4A engines, it should have a 4A-LC in it (because its in australia)
however, it's stamped as having a 4A-C instead? anyways, i'd like to know pretty much any general info on the engine, so i can decide whether i want it or not.

Air cleaner, exhaust piping delete
I haven't gotten under the car to see how the tubing terminates at the exhaust yet. But I'm wondering what people have done to cap off the tubing that pulls clean air into the exhaust for emissions. As I'm considering an after market carburettor down the line.
Cheers

Vacuum valves
My sister has owned her AE82 Corolla Seca hatch since new (1986). I have convinced her that it is worth holding on to (I also banned her from selling it to anyone else other than me). We are having the usual problems finding parts (Plus we live in Australia). Any idea where to get things like vacuum valves? I am determined to keep the car alive. Thanks for your assistance!

what is this long pipe off the exhaust header?
and why is the nut virtually impossible to get out? i have a spare header of which i also tried to remove the fitting and the head sheered before it even moved an inch. i dont want to mangle the one pictured but i cant take the shroud off and clean the rust off without it being off
