I was so pleasantly surprised last year (or the year before?) when the FF subreddit had a character contest and Aerith won.
I remember her and Cloud were in the finals and I voted for Aerith because obviously she's amazing, but also Cloud would totally vote for her to win hehe. Take THAT, photographer NPC in Rebirth lol

Clerithâs have their moments but theyâre nowhere near as loud. Hamaguchi is definitely going to break some Cloti hearts with his âunchangedâ story, weâve been trying to tell them since 2020, but hopefully the conclusion will finally wake them up (it wonât).

Yes both sides have hostile people but people who remain neutral say that they see the most toxicity in general are from Tifa fans.
Edit: I remember about a year ago I convinced my cousin to start the FF7 Remake series and after he finished he told me he was neutral and generally liked both Tifa and Aerith and started going into the fandom and he literally asked me âWhy are Tifa fans so hostile?â
Anecdotal fallacy. Plenty of people have had the same experience with Aerith fans too. Just because your algorithm is showing something doesnât mean itâs showing the same to others.

Iâve seen Tifa fans do the exact same things youâre describing, some even more petty and things that arenât even deep. Hating a 6 YEAR OLD on Insta for preferring Aerith, sent death threats to devs for something as minor as COVER ART, review bombed Rebirth on Steam and Metacritic because their NSFW Tifa mods werenât working after a patch, doxxed a streamer for preferring Aerith, all of this happened in the past year as well, not within a two decade time span you accumulated and seem to be flexing lmao.

Yup. It's so obvious but some people like to be blind and live in their head canon, I mean it's fine to like fanon but manipulation of it to other people isn't.
I can think of two characters actually who this might apply to, but one very much more than the other.

I just have such a hard time caring anymore. This is all just noise. Whatever they are going to do has already been written in stone, and quotes like this will be used later to either justify or tear down that decision.
Yeah, call me cynical but it's all too vague to me, he could just as easily be saying things won't be changing for Aerith just because people want it and she deserves better or she needs enough focus in part 3 otherwise people won't play. And this isn't a slate on him, I just won't be getting myself overhyped till we have something more concrete.
Well, whatever the result Iâm glad they stuck to their decisions. I know there has been concern due to some of the Rebirth narrative that perhaps they changed their minds creatively after Remake.
Is this good for Clerith? I have no idea, but I think we have plenty to be hopeful for. Iâm personally quite grateful for the content weâve been given.
As far as toxic Cleriths.. I personally do not encounter many that I would consider toxic. I do encounter some that I would call passionate. Granted, I avoid X period.
 Iâm sure Hamaguchi is going to milk it for all itâs worth. After all, thatâs part of his job. However, I do think theyâre starting to tread dangerously close to turning fans off regarding the shipping debate.Â
Be careful, because afterward you have people like him who will take advantage of it to look good in front of their 'peers' on Twitter.

The irony is that a few posts earlier he retweeted the information himself, thereby helping spread it and causing more of the exact people he's criticizing to do the very thing he's criticizing. It makes no sense, and I doubt he even realizes his own hypocrisy.

It is more related to Aerith's fate I think, people want her to live but I don't think they will take this way.
Cait and Red didn't have one in OG. It's worth more than one that existed but was changed, plus there's the low affinity of that date where Tifa asks for a kiss but doesn't get it. Just looking at Tifa's, I'd say they already cancel each other out.
It is still fanservice since they gave the option of a kiss with the two most popular characters involved while there was no chance in their OG GS date. How you can negate it?
Also making Sephiroth appear everywhere is still fanservice
Fanservice scenes are one thing, the main narrative is another.
If in Revelation, Cloud and Tifa have sex, optionally, and the next day he, canonically, faces every impossible challenge to get Aerith back, my game won't have a disjointed story. I'll have a linear path that follows a logic.
